Bravo. Nice to see you diagnose the problem and not just part swap 👏🏼

Thanks for posting this, having the same code to deal with. Also being new to ISTA, it was helpful to see the workflow on the screens and how you use that to test on the car itself

Hi, your welcome. Please be advised the FRM module can be faulty if after replace height level sensor and code remains. I believe some FRM module can build corrosion from cabin moisture leading it abnormality/failure. Take care.

@@iTCXtreme Probably my issue. first i had issues with one low beam, then two. replaced frm-module 3 times, and all lights started working, however i got fault code on rear ride height sensor, which i replaced today, code remains. I'll try checking this, and try to reset short circuit in frm module if possible.

Usually If you have a problem with your level sensors, you will get a pop up messages everytime you drive. I have a BMW 525D Xdrive and I have got many errors "Dynamic damping control failure". Corner ability restricted. IOnly comfort mode is available. not Sport or Sport+. Running diagnose with my Autophix ES910, i find Dynamic stability control is red, all my 4 EDC shock absorbers is red and disable, my VDM Vertical dynamic control is red. Central gateway error too. Checked all my 4 level sensors are full of rust and the sensor level do not move up and down because stuck in one position. I use a 10mm fix key and 10mm pipe, unscrew the plastic stag. I use force to take out the steel 2 balljoints. The steel balljoints was full of rust. I put balljoints and plastic stag hull n a strong rust remover bath. I use steel wool and polish the steel balljoints. I use rust resistant oil and use a polygrip plier to press the balljoints in place. I put the level sensors in place. Start engine, run diagnostic to remove all fault codes. Stop engine. Restart after a while and start a trip check if the popup message occurs. I did this and my car is working perfect

Does the leveling sensor have to be at a certain angle or height? I put a new one in, on the factory location and I still can't get the left rear to inflate.

@@TONY63557 When you replace a sensor you must use Ista or a scan tool to calibrate the levels. Watch youtube video of M. Ovidiu How to diagnose an BMW x5 with ista for level sensor failure. you must also check the stag holding the sensor if there is full of rust. In case you must buy new stag with new balljoints. It is a common problem that the balljoints get very rusty and the sensor stop moving up and down. I had the same problem on my car. I preferred to repair all 8 balljoints. Good luck.

@kartik4283 Жыл бұрын
no, but you can try to calibrate the steering angle sensor. thats the cheapest thng to test first;) Worked on mine. And i had both fault. Next is to diagnose the ride hight sensor:)

Just fixed my headlight vertical aim failure by changing this sensor on the rear . If anybody attempting it on a newer car like 4 series f36 or 3 series. Be warned it’s deceptively hard. Majority of the suspension is in the way, zero working room to get a 10mm 1/4 inch in there.
@dinhvanpham81023 ай бұрын
You need 10mm fix key and 10mm pipe. Use the fix key to hold the balljoint and 10mm pipe to unscrew the 2 screws that holding the plastic stag. After you take out the plastic stag with 2 steel balljoints, use force to take out the balljoints. Usually the steel balljjoints are full of rust. Use a strong rus remover to remove all rust on balljoints and the plastic stag. Use rust resistant oil in the hull. Use polygrip plier to press balljoints in place. Use a diagnose tool to remove all fault codes. Good luck :--))

hey, i have similar problem and i replaced sensor first with second hand one but still not working properly, then bought new original one and this same situation, it read out 4.75 to 4.85 no matter what position sensor is in. Do You think it may be frm module fault?

I used Autel to diagnose my BMW e70. Left side reads 5.0v (steady) while the right side fluctuates between 5.0v and 3.8v. What could be the problem?

Hello, do you have any suggestion for DTC 9CB2 related to FRM module? Everything regarding front ligths works perfectly fine but can't get rid of that fault code. Thanks in advance.
@iTCXtreme3 жыл бұрын
Couple of things, an issue FRM module like corrosion or faulty component on the FRM pcb, firmware issues or wiring loom. If its the rear height sensor then check the wiring loom for any breakage as enter the rear boot as I believe the damage could be on the bend as it enters the boot and insulation on the wiring is damage and wire is exposed. Good luck.

Mine tested at 4.90, does that mean there's a problem?
@mrsweete90654 жыл бұрын
4.90 is the Voltage when the ride height sensor is disconnected, when you connect the ride height sensor the arm creates some resistance and will lower the voltage from 4.9 to anything, but of course if the orientation of the height sensor is correct and the ride height sensor is working as it should then ISTA+ should show you that its within the two voltages it expects which was shown on the screen. If it falls out of those values then the ride height sensor is probably at fault.

Well, I believe if you remove it then the vertical movement of your headlights with no longer be functional, and headlights should sit on the the highest level. I don't see it being a issues but you will need to experiment it by removing and driving. Cheers
