Thanks for the video! We've been searching for the right science the past two years and you just saying it's age appropriate convinced me.

Glad you found it helpful! I think breaking down science into more age appropriate levels helps tremendously. Just the right amount of info is presented and it’s written in a way that is easily understood. 😃👩🔬🧑🔬

Thanks to you, I started using some of their history readers with my girls. So far, I have really liked them. It is a good sign when they ask you to keep reading.

That’s great! I haven’t tried much of CK History (only the Middle Ages). I’m curious which history readers have you tried?

@@michellegf So far just the Maya Aztec Inca for K, I think. It has been good.

@@kristinajones9975 CK history is definitely something I want to explore more of. Have you checked out the CK online resources for history? I have found the CK online resources for Middle Ages has been really helpful.

Thank you for this. I haven't been able to find a secular open and go science for the life of me.

I’ve had issues finding secular science curriculum as well! It seems like the older my daughter gets, the less options there are 🤔

Hey Michelle! SOOO GRATEFUL to have found your channel! I'm considering using CK for science, history & geography as unit studies for my kiddos. I felt a bit overwhelmed looking through some of the unit's pacing guides (some being as long as 30 days). When you mentioned you do lessons twice a week, did you also mean you do 2 lessons in one day (that's what I assumed looking at your dividing up of the pacing guide)? I'm just wondering how to work through some of these subjects without taking months to walk through them but also am not sure of doing the same subject daily. Would love to hear your thoughts!

I’m glad your finding my channel helpful! The pacing guides are meant for a public school setting, which I can understand them taking longer. Since the instruction is more one on one in homeschooling it goes a lot faster. That’s one of the reasons I write my own schedule on the blank pacing guide provided in the teachers guide. I tend to complete 2 lessons a week. We do science 2 days a week, so it’s a lesson per day. This can vary of course depending on the lesson and there are some lessons already broken into 2 days. If that’s the case we just do the one lesson over the course of the 2 days. Once you get used to the format and outline of the material its really easy to get thru. We spend maybe 25 mins on a lesson, sometimes longer if there is an experiment. Right now I have my 6 yr old using CK 2nd grade language arts. As a group we use CK Sci and CK geography and we’ve never had a problem incorporating them all. I do have a schedule video if that helps Homeschool Schedule | 2023-2024 kzbin.info/www/bejne/foKsk5dtn5xrr9U

Is the printout your using basically the teachers guide? I'm curious if I actually need to buy the teachers guides or if i can just print them out by unit study on their website?
@michellegf2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to buy anything. Everything is available online as a free download, including the teachers guide and student reader. I chose to printout the teachers guide mainly because I prefer physical copies and don’t like constantly reading off of a screen 💻

Do you do 1 lesson in the 2 days?

We do Sci two days a week. Usually we do a lesson each day. However, there are some lessons that are already split into 2 days in the teacher guide and if that’s the case we will do that lesson over the span of 2 days.

So Bill Nye and Gen Genius are in the curriculum, or are you adding them.
@michellegf Жыл бұрын
CK does have a list of online resources such as pictures and KZbin videos that correlate with each lesson. I add additional videos such GG, magic school bus, and Bill Nye to summarize what we learned about.
