I love that i found this 2 years later from then original post date. I started learning serifs in March. I feel like my serifs are either too small or too big. I practice on paper and on my ipad.

Serif's are always a lot harder I think, as there is less room for error and doesn't flow like calligraphy. I love working on paper too, it's always great to go back to basics with paper 😃

Thank you for this - really helpful. One question: is there a reason why you didn’t use color drop? Much quicker than filling in by hand.

Hi Heather, great question! Usually I would just to an outline, and use the colour drop, however in this particular design, I used a textured brush, which means instead of a solid finish, the letters had a slight texture and grain to them. It also means you are unable to colour drop, as the outline isn't 'solid'. Hope this helps answer your question :)

if you buy it and unzip it, it should have a folder labeled fonts or something similar to that. If you open that it’ll have and instructions pdf inside

Have you downloaded Ian Barnards letter builder? Once downloaded, you have to manually import the font into procreate.

Hi Meilyn, I use a 4000x5000px canvas, it allows me to post for the correct dimensions on Instagram, as well as being big enough to repurpose the design and use in other work :) Hope this helps!

How did you create the letter building font? I have his sets but they came as a stamp... am I missing something?

I accidentally found it...I was looking through the folder and saw it as a font file as well as a brush. In procreate I tried to import font (click add text, edit style, import font) and then found it in the folder, turns out it works great as a font 😁

The procreate app does not have the text edit style that popped from the bottom.. what app are you using

I’m using procreate. Once you have downloaded the grid or letter builder from Ian Barnard, you can either add it as a brush or as a font. (Click import font) and then you should be able to see it on the list. Hope this helps! 😊
