Thank you buddy, hope you’re keeping well 🙏 ..Yeah hopefully it shows how it’s performing in ‘real world’ professional jobs.. especially considering that I was using it prior to its launch - it really has helped me complete many small spray runs of joinery and spraying small ceilings.. always using less than one battery, couple of refills and spraying effortlessly at low pressure 💙 Always great to hear from you my friend.. regards Pete 🙏

hi pete i do like KIP products but get frustrated by them not fitting on an easy-masker. I do wish they'd adjust their tube widths to fit. The 2.6 meter can be a total pain to deploy on your hand or finger. Great vid. Keep up the content!

Hi Timothy, great to hear from you buddy, and great feedback on Kip.. could you send me a link to the masker that you’re using and I’ll send the info to Kip ..I find the pre-taped plastic film easier to mask but trickier to cut.. so far the best solution I’ve found is to use a safety cutter (I put it in my mouth until I need it to cut a run) 😄 ..all the best my friend.. regards Pete

Brilliant stuff Pete,so much information fair play to you for all the knowledge and help for others you put in to these vids,I work in private and occupied homes pretty much all the time and the slowest part of the job is always the woodwork,I use the brush and mini roller on doors and frames etc and even though I'm a fast worker it still takes so long I can also see the brush marks and roller marks especially around handles even though I try to be neat with my finish,this video is inspiring me to be braver and get the sprayer out 😊

I’ve been learning from Pete since he started this channel - I’d urge you to spray the woodwork as not only is the finish flawless but it takes a fraction of the time. Yes, the masking takes time but the sharp edges are worth it. I recently had a large HSL to do and had to brush/roll the woodwork - it took hours whereas spraying takes minutes. Do give it a go, your clients will thank you! Best wishes, Rob

Nicely done, HQ. Question: you appear to frequently shoot closer than 12" (30mm) often promoted elsewhere ...and not always at a robotic 90 degrees ..yet you appear to achieve a fine finish. ...practice not doubt, but any other tweaks? Tip I saw elsewhere: take two paint sticks forming a tight V ...drag them down your mesh paint bag = "Look Ma, clean hands." Cheers. Jim/Maryland

Hi Jim, thank you my friend got your feedback and sharing a very good tip.. Regarding how close - it’s something I’ve heard fed back to me before and I’ve questioned myself (I have a very analytical mind 😄), whilst I may well get closer than approx 12” sometimes in error, I think mostly it’s the camera angle / or somewhat an illusion.. over the years I’ve replayed footage (certainly in video editing) and I agree it can look close, but in reality I haven’t been that close - never any heavy transfer of material anyway 👍😄 ..I do value your feedback and tips, please keep in touch.. kind regards my friend.. best spray video I have seen.... really appreciated. On the bannister would you spray the handrail first or the bottom part so that overspray falls on wet paint? thanks in advance and will keep watching.
@PaintHQ
@PaintHQ 9 ай бұрын
Apologies for my delayed reply, sometimes I don’t get the notification.. that’s a good question.. it all depends on the configuration of the staircase - in this video the handrail was finished in a stain and clear lacquer, so I found it best to spray that first and wrap it in brown paper to protect it for the duration of the project.. otherwise I look to spray the rail last and lay on a nice ‘wet’ coat that dries down lovely.. this is what the customer is putting their hand on, you want it to feel top notch 👌 Thanks for your support, I very much appreciate it.. regards Pete 💙💯

Hey Josh, thank you very much 🙏 ..108 or 106 ?.. reason I check is the 108 is pretty tough to use with the low viscosity paints I spray.. you have to move super quick 😩.. whereas the new 106, you gain so much more control because if it’s reduced flow.. yeah the 106 is great, perfect for spindles 👍 ..regards Pete

Great video again. I’m trying to learn as much as I can before taking the plunge. What do the tip numbers represent? ie. 206?
@PaintHQ
@PaintHQ 10 ай бұрын
Hi Chris, thank you for watching my friend.. the tip numbering is relatively straightforward - the easy bit is the first number (2 in your example).. double it, and that’s your fan width in inches at 12” away from the surface (so 4” inches) - the 06 represents orifice size in hundredths of an inch so 06 is .006” ..other examples are ‘10’ (eg 210) - .010” orifice size.. what this means to airless spraying is .006 and .008 are for very thin, free flowing paints.. next size up, .010 for example would be for slightly thicker and typically for woodwork - paints that can also be brushed / rolled.. the .015, .017 are for thicker still, emulsion / latex wall / ceiling paints.. hope this helps a little 👍😄 regards Pete 💙💯

Hi Matt, thank you buddy.. this video should help, step by step to masking a door ajar - to hit all edges - you can mask it wider too (24”), to get the hinge side - or manually paint the hinge side in after.. all very useful when working on multiple doors (HSL) for example, and it’s not feasible to remove and store the doors.. Thanks for your very kind offer, leave it with me because I do like to post out Kip products / bundles for people to try.. maybe I could help you by sending some Kip your way 👍😄 Keep in touch my friend, Regards Pete 💙💯

Have you used the Graco ultra handheld? If so, do you like the new Quickshot better than the ultra handheld. I have two of the ultra handheld and abused them for seven years now. I have some of the other Graco larger machines like the 490 and use it all the time for spraying ceilings. I spray a lot of doors and a lot of trim and I’m getting into kitchen cabinets spraying and thinking the quick shot might be better for kitchen cabinets. What do you think? I enjoy your channel.

Hey Brian, thank you for watching the PaintHQ channel and sharing your experience too.. you’ve got a great setup with smaller HH’s complimenting your bigger Graco pump - you sound a very wise sprayer my friend 👏👏 Yes I’ve long been a fan of the Graco HH technology and showcased the Ultra and UltraMax units on here 💙 In short, yes I prefer the Ultra QuickShot - I’m sure that’s perhaps easy to say, but to explain - it’s the hopper style feed I like, short hose, it really takes very little to prime and get spraying.. I’m confident I’ve even saved money on less materiel waste 👍 then of course the electronic gun - quick trigger and needle shutoff, no spits and it so easy to manoeuvre into tight areas - perfect for kitchen spraying (again like you, not to replace the bigger pumps).. keep in touch my friend, it’ll be great to hear your thoughts in future 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

Great video Pete, really inspiring. Every job is different i know but do you always first consider the order of things to spray to make it as easy and quickly as possible? I only ask because in my mind on this job I would have sprayed the stairs and handrail first, covered them, then the doors, covered them, the walls, covered them and then the ceiling last. That way everything would be covered with the sprayer, or have i got it wrong? (you definitely have more experience than me btw so I'm not being critical!)
@PaintHQ
@PaintHQ Жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, thank you buddy 🙏 ..No I appreciate your thoughts.. you’re right I do think of the order in advance for speed and efficiency.. there’s always a couple of approaches and completing the staircase joinery first and wrapping up is equally feasible.. I always do the bannister first in these scenarios and wrap them - I had to prep and stain, then spray 5 coats of clear lacquer 👍 ..I think on this one I was completing a lot of work in the hallway too, taking doors off and carrying up out the way to spray on the landing 😄 ..but you’re right, I then do all the walls and spray the ceilings in last - the ceilings is the easiest bit.. all relatively small on HSL’s, easy to mask Vs ladders etc needed for cutting in ..always great to hear from you buddy and get your input 🙏

Hello my friend.. I tend to use the Trimaco paint strainer bags - you can wash them out easily and reuse (if using WB paints).. Or fruit / veg bags, readily available in UK supermarkets (fruit and veg isle) in Aldi, Lidl, Asda 👍 However, paint quality and ‘sprayability’ of paint plays a big part - heavy / course pigments can cause smaller orifice tips to block 👍 Hope this helps 🙏 Keep in touch.. regards Pete

Great question.. yeah seven months, time flies.. I can honestly say without doubt, the UQS has helped me complete, either small projects (such as small bathroom ceilings, feature walls, cupboard spaces) - or small parts of bigger projects, for example yesterday I sprayed in an internal door, a door frame and a small run of trim 👍 ..it’s the ability to get setup with a small quantity of paint, spray the job and clean up - quickly with very minimal waste 👍 a great compliment to the bigger pumps, where it’s a bit much to setup, just to spray less then a litre (32oz).. it’s so quick to flush a primer and then get on with the topcoat 👍 go for it, you won’t regret it.. regards Pete 💙💯

Hi Pete, can you help please? Apologies I see you’ve moved to Graco products but I have the Wagner 150M. I’ve watched your other videos to find an answer but as a DIYer it gets a bit confusing! I want to spray my wooden staircase spindles and handrail.(the spindles a 40mm x 40mm thick) I will be using a water based fleetwood paint, satin finish. Although I can’t control the pressure, can I use any of the ‘smaller’ tips with this model? Or which tip would you advise that might work the best? Might the 211 work or would there still be too much overspray? The tips a quite expensive here so just wanted to ask before I go out and buy and want to try use the sprayer since I’ve already spent the money on that too! 😅 (I used it for my kitchen cabinets with already and loved the finished result!) Thank you 🙏
@PaintHQ
@PaintHQ Жыл бұрын
Sure no problem, happy to help if I can 👍 I’m thinking the 211 tip that you have could well work, I’d be reluctant to suggest you buying something additional, only to be disappointed.. I’m not familiar with the Fleetwood brand, but did give it a quick google.. are you in Ireland?.. anyhow, I’d guess Fleetwood can also be brushed / rolled, so could well suit the .011 tip .. then it’s a 4” fan, so like the 206 I’m using, your overspray will be minimal, going around 40mm spindles.. what tip did you use with the kitchen cabinets?.. well done by the way, sounds like you had success.. To quickly explain other options - you could swap out the standard 7/8” tip guard for e a Graco RAC X tip guard and use day a FFLP 210 for the fine finish / low pressure ..I wouldn’t recommend a 206 like I’m using with the lack of a pressure control (I wouldn’t be sure it would work).. a 210 ‘should’ work, but I couldn’t justify suggesting you spend the additional money, like you say costly where you are.. so yeah go for the 211 👍 you’ve got nothing to loose 🙏 ..always happy to help if I can my friend.. regards Pete
@lc6972
@lc6972 Жыл бұрын
@PaintHQ Hi Pete, thank you so much for the helpful advice. Yes, I am in Ireland, Fleetwood is like our version of Dulux I guess! I used the 311 tip for the cabinets with a F&B estate eggshell paint- it gave a really smooth and clean finish, much better than expected for my first time spraying and so satisfying to not have any brush strokes. Hoping I can get a similar result on the stairs as it is the first thing people will see inside the front door. I am going to chance the 211 tip then, I have everything already prepped and primed so I have to keep going with it now anyway! 😅 I'll keep your suggestion in mind though for the Graco tip guard if I have any more fine finish projects come up it might be worth getting then, thank you for that. I'll keep you posted on how I get on, thanks a million, Raine 🙂

Hello my friend.. because the product is thixotropic (can also be brush / rolled), I don’t feel it will go through a .006 orifice - typical a .006 is for very low viscosity / free flowing / spray only 👍 ..I would usually say a .010, but with you saying a 310 / 410 the flow is fast / sounds like a heavy coat.. you could try a 308, typically for low viscosity, but very often sprays slightly thicker (brush / roller) products 👍 ..or move quicker with the 310 / 410 tip (and double check you’re nut too close - aim for approx 12” away from surface 👍 hope this helps my friend.. keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙💯

What audio service are you using for your editing. Sounds like you’re using a lot of cinematic themes. Just purchased the Final Cut Pro and thinking about about artist. I’m a better painter than a creator but need to start learning the editing part.

Why do you spray everything except the walls? And the walls you brush and roll
@PaintHQ
@PaintHQ 10 ай бұрын
That’s a very good question.. Sometimes I do spray the walls - my choice not to and brush / roller, is usually if it’s an occupied house and access is required (in this example it was a HSL) - basically to spray the walls, the masking blocks access to a lot of rooms.. but yeah. I do like to spray the walls, I like a complete sprayed project.. I always spray the woodwork and ceilings on every job 👍 thanks for your question my friend, keep in touch 💙💯 Regards Pete

I see that you used a secondary strainer. Is this necessary since the quick shot has a built in filter? What should I search for in the US for an equivalent floor protector?

He didn't pickup on it, but I learned the little filter in the bottom of the cup can clog up quick with unseen thick bits from the can. Some people used nylon stockings, but the mesh bags like he used work really well. I just ordered some metal strainers off Amazon for the same purpose - but they'll add more cleanup time. Jim

Do you add 20% water to shellac? New here looking to start using quick shot
@PaintHQ
@PaintHQ 9 ай бұрын
No my friend.. if using a shellac and you’re wanting to thin, you would use methylated spirit / denatured alcohol (not water).. hope this helps my friend - happy to help if I can, anytime.. regards Pete 💙💯

Why not do the ceiling first? It would save you the time from masking the walls. Great video though, well made.

Wish i could spray at 900 I dont know what im doing wrong. Ive used FFLP208 and 210. If my pressure is under 1500 i get tails on my spray fan. How the heck can i use 900 pressure, also that doesnt even take me out of the prime zone on the pressure controller (Graco gx21)

@@PaintHQnot just a gimmick then like it seems the ultra handheld was/is. Seeing reviews of this being prone to a slight leak in a certain same area, where I don't recall

When you're performing for the camera and actually on jobs you'll see a massive difference in quality. Let's see this dude on a jobsite on Friday after 50 hours sanding trim. 😂 KZbin isn't real life folks.

Hate seeing people tilt the gun as they are moving up and down...the spray gun has to be parallel to the surface the whole time! Tilting in itself will cause over spray as your pointing the gun towards the floor or ceiling!

I agree 100%. I used to spray cars and moving your wrist and the end and start of the stroke is a must and the same should be done when spraying doors and trim. Small things lead to big results.
