Back when I was little, I had this Disney princess makeup kit. Everyday I would smear purple LIPSTICK on my eyelids. I thought it was a cream eyeshadow. I wore Snow White red lipstick, and the blush was hot pink and I had a heart shape sponge, so I made a heart with blush. On my face. Every day.

For all the kids in the comments saying that they're in 6th-8th grade and don't wear makeup... good for you, the choice is yours. Don't let anyone make you feel like you have to wear it, and don't let anyone make you feel bad if you do want to wear it. That includes you too, boys. Just, please listen to this one piece of advice my mother gave me as a kid, that I regret not following... don't tweeze the crap out of your eyebrows. When you're young the follicles are still developing and excessive plucking can damage them and then your brows will grow back in sparse or misshapen. Resist the urge to follow brow trends, the folks with super skinny eyebrows in the 90's are feeling some regret now that thick brows are in. Just tweeze the hairs in the middle to avoid a unibrow and leave the rest alone. Or don't, your unibrow is cool too. Just don't pluck your brows into nothingness, keep em' natural but tidy looking.

I remember as a kid I started plucking my brows (not because of any trend; I just got my dad brows, which are bad on a guy and worse on a girl) and over time I kept making them thinner and thinner until I accidentally ended up with half a brow (I was just trying to even them out!). I got creative and put some brown eye-shadow so I wouldn't get in trouble, and despite the fact that it was the wrong shade and blurry around the edges my parents miraculously didn't notice. Thankfully, because I had my dad's shitty hairy eyebrow genes, they grew back completely and fairly quickly. After that I concluded that I clearly had no talent for shaping and just plucked between and under my brows so I didn't have a unibrow and my eyebrows didn't widen in the middle. Later everyone else would start experimenting with brows and I stayed normal while everyone else had orange shit and sperm brows. Then the thick eyebrow trend became a thing and I was golden. They eyebrows I had were thick (that was the hairy eyebrow genes doing their thing) and the excess hair hardly grew anymore. So I guess in the end my genetic curse was a blessing in disguise.

So funny, were the same age and I too wasn't allowed to wear makeup until I was like 14. I never knew about eyebrows until I was well into my 20s so I just didn't have eyebrows for years because they're so light. I remember finding my moms concealer stick but didn't know it was concealer because I knew nothing about makeup. I wore it as lipstick in middle school and got made fun of on the bus. It was so sad. I remember the Revlon cream shadows, those were so awesome!. Its crazy how I didn't really know much about makeup until I started watching KZbin a few years ago. I went through my 20s and 30/31 before I kno2 about contour, eyebroqs, primer, etc. Im late to your channel but ill still watch it. I relate to you so much! Thank you for staying true to who you are!

Never had a retainer but so many cousins, friends, classmates, etc I knew did it became normal. We never made fun of them, it was just a cool, unique thing they had that the others didn't. My elementary bff had AWESOME colors on her braces I was so jealous of!!!! And there was a girl with head gear who our teacher joked could talk with aliens, but only her and the teacher; we were all SO JEALOUS and begged her to translate!!!! But that was the late 90's/early 2000's; different times.
