honestly, streaming really does seem like the easier way to gain subs in the hive (versus long form videos). but KZbin was like: "you wanna stream, how about no?" and since then, never could stream, but cool advice, it really helped

Yeah, this is something I think a lot of people need to hear. Far too many people think they can just get big really quick from shorts and that would be good, but it really doesn't build an audience. (I say all of this as someone who never really uploaded too many shorts, but knew whaf they did to people). Great video!

The same thing happened to me, I kept uploading daily shorts for almost a year because they got views, and when I ran out of Ideas and switched to long-form content everyone started unsubscribing and stopped watching my videos. A year of my life wasted.

my first channel was started in 2021 and i just spammed shorts for a year. i ended up deleting that channel because I thought the 1k shorts subscribers were ruining the channel. By far the best thing to do on youtube is to make content you would want to watch rather than chasing views

385 shorts and not a single one has actually gone viral, that's crazy. The best tip for going viral with shorts is to be aware that mostly only small children will watch them. For whatever reason, "poorly produced videos" are better received by this target group. It's not always about the quality.

I make shorts. Sorta. Right now what I do is use the Remix feature on YT to make some short clips outta my long form videos. They've had surprising success that I didn't anticipate. Before this however, I did a lot of random shorts like you. One of em got 200k+ views, and now 1/4th of my subs come from that video. Biggest regret of my life. I'm okay with doing the shorts I make now because they're just clips from my long form and I enjoy watching them (because they're usually funny moments to me). I stopped chasing the views and instead just made videos I thought were fun.
