"stridebreaker isn't that great of an item" is just not true, the slow can be huge securing kills while ganking and helps you hit multiple W's per gank as you are not just E reliant, while no other item gives such a great utility. It might not be the best for dueling when you are even but it greatly helps getting ahead and provides somewhat of a protection against kiting.
