I would guess that getting over 2 400 again will be a nice psychological boost for tournaments to come. It is really difficult to ask for a better result than this. Congratulations for such an excellent overall performance and the tournament victory.

Thanks! Unfortunately I probably dropped a few points in Vegas in December (which will only be counted for February) but you're absolutely right in that it feels like a huge psychological boost

In the latest Endgame Sensei on Chess Dojo you mentioned that you recently won two tournaments in a row. Are you planning to bring us the games from the second one? This was a great series and besides the content for many of us it's compelling to keep up with the struggles and progress of players/KZbinrs we follow.

Another really interesting video thanks. Is it fair to say that not playing Re8 (instead of h5) was the biggest regret and thus learning opportunity? It's interesting how annoying and limiting it was to have that Qd5+ threat hanging around. I was thinking about Re8 and realized that not only does it improve your worst placed piece (Ra8), but it actually improves your two worst placed pieces (Ra8, Nb6).
@IMKostyaKavutskiy2 жыл бұрын
After the game that was the moment I certainly wanted back, because Re8 felt so much more natural
@pdomckenzie2 жыл бұрын
I just plugged it into Stockfish and it agrees that Re8 is clearly best. -6.7 at depth 30. Interestingly the top 7 moves are all either the R or K moves, thus addressing the Qd5 issue, and are all -3 or better. Prophylaxis was key here it seems.

@@pdomckenzie Haha I guess we didn't need Stockfish after all!

Congrats on your win!! You've worked for it. Nice deep exchange sac to win the B pair!! 😉😉 😁😁 All that tactics training must have helped defend under pressure, would have been Morphyesque if you got Ra8 into the counter attack against the naked king. In other sports, even elite competitors keep drilling the basics so it holds up under pressure

Really exciting last two games! Congratulations on your tournament win. Is it a GM norm?
@IMKostyaKavutskiy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No, the event needs to have at least 9 rounds to qualify

I was wondering why no one looked at g5 instead of d5 with all the pawn possibilities that were there.

I think white is not winning in minute 31:03 because you have Queen D4 check, and win the rook ¿?
