Can you make a video on how you write and work a busy job *while having a small child*? Seriously, that's what puzzles me the most.

Kids do eventually go to sleep (I’ve got four so I can confirm that they do actually sleep). It really becomes a matter of deciding what you’re going to do with that time. Some people chill out by watching tv or KZbin or reading. Some people write. It’s basically up to you.

@@thedanalcantara That makes sense to read, and I believe it was your case. However, in the families I know with small children, when children go to sleep, parents either 1) do the chores they didn't manage to do while kids were awake, or 2) go to sleep themselves, because only then are they allowed to. Hence my curiosity in this particular case.

@@mn-fz1kg as someone writing a PhD with a 6 month old, I think trying to fit in very small amounts of writing is absolutely key. I try to do something like 50-100 words whenever I get 10 mins, building up to 500 words across the day.

Support is key. The time, energy, and focus that a single parent with no help has isn’t the same that one with supportive partner/spouse and/or family members does. And that is without considering other variables such as what type of job you have, chronic health conditions, ADHD, etc. I’m a disabled and chronically ill single parent with no family around, trying to hold a full-time job, and my writing is happening, but not every day. I’m trying to prioritize it, but basic needs are always first, and my resources are very limited.

Hey Mariana, Thank you for the new video, I agree that sometimes prioritization your desired activity over your routine habits is beneficial to you, Also, I really liked the part about doing a small work session before the real job work, in your case, like 30mins before work, Seems like a good strategy for motivation, warming-up and small dose of accomplishments. Thank you, That's really good one.
