For the singing and interpretation, Stacey Kent’s version is without compare. It seems that’s played in a beautiful Ab minor.

Hi Andy, such wonderful chords ! I have played starting in A min7. Great to ab able to have it in different keys :)

Yes, Mark. I was late to playing standards in multiple keys. It’s such an important thing to do.

Awesome once again Andy! I've been listening to Wes's beautiful version of this a lot since you posted these wonderful chords. I just love Wes's "playful" octaves when he starts soloing. He's the best 😎👌

This is great work! The one point I'd make to make it a bit easier to read the charts is that some of these complex chords can be expressed more simply. For instance, C#m7(b5)/G is really just a particular inversion of Em6 with a G in the bass. You see complex names for minor 6 chords all the time, but once you learn how simple a minor 6 chord is I find its faster reading if you just call them that, and you can forget about the flattened accidentals.

Thank you - you're right. I think I overly thought that chord when I made this video!

Love these chord videos and the material you provide. 🙏🏻Question: if you were playing this with a bassist, would you use same voicings, same voicing minus lowest note or different voicings? Would be cool to explore that in a separate video.
@jazzguitarwithandy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nils. Great question, maybe something for a future video topic. I think the first thing, it would depend on the bass player and the tune. So much of the feel of the bossa comes from the bass whether on the guitar or the bass player. I'd probably start with the kind of thing that we have in this video, just to make sure that I lock in with the bass player and the timing is solid. Maybe then branch away a bit. You could as you say take out the lowest note.

Fantastic stuff! (By the way I don't know why 'insensatez' was translated as 'how insensative', it actually means 'foolish')

Cheers Rick. I'd heard that before, I'm sure that happens with a lot translations with song lyrics and titles.
