Thank you for spreading this teaching. I get the point now and this opened my eyes. Guidance rather then training needs to be teached. Hope you manage to spread this info to as many owners and trainers as possible.

So how does one do this? How do we let dogs be dogs and live with us in this modern world?

I hope people take you seriously because I think they are predominantly self-centered and will continue doing what they want instead of what’s good for the dog. I’ve had 9 adopted dogs and I’ve always talked to each as I would talk to a human. I was talking to my dog David while walking him. A person behind me on the sidewalk walked up to me and said, “I heard you talking to your dog and I thought you were crazy, then I saw your dog respond as if he understood what you were saying. And I realized you were not crazy. Your dog did understand everything you were saying to him because I watched him respond.”

Love Victoria Stilwell videos. Her videos helped me a lot in training/guiding my first dog. My Maltese almost one and half year old boy is my first pet in my life. I don’t put a collar on him at home but he has to be on leash as he goes crazy seeing bigger dogs and some human. He lunges at them and bark like crazy😀 and snaps, bit me few times as he gets too excited he didn’t even know that he bite me I guess. At home he is a super good boy.

The same could be said about humans, don’t think is applicable to most dogs, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to have them, a very poor understanding of the laws of behavior and learning is what brings people to say things like the ones in the podcast by Brophey. Many assumptions but not clear of any data, forgetting about adaptations. She claims the environment changes behavior but doesn’t see humans and human environment capable of doing so, you can’t have it both ways , unfortunately the dog training business is just that “ a business” people arguing about who is right so they can get your money.

I remember many years ago when it was common for a dog to be tied to a tree or something for its entire life. I hated it then, and the thought of it is heartbreaking 💔 😢
