Good simple instructions on this video. I have the same car MY standard LFP coming next week. I’ve read many different things about charging to 100%. Do you charge to 100% every night or 1x a week? If you charge to 100% every night like Tesla recommends have you seen any battery degradation as some have said that I’ve read? Thanks
@EVandThings
@EVandThings Жыл бұрын
Hi Vu, I have been charging my car to 100 percent at least 3 times a week and degradation I have seen in a Year is of 12 km less range The range now shows 428 inserted of 440[range when I bought] and since degradation happens most in first Year, so it is not too bad. And I think it's better to let the car charge 100% and save yourself hassle of thinking about switching the max charging percentage.
@vtthesuccessfinder
@vtthesuccessfinder Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed reply. That’s reassuring to know. So you charge 100% 3x a week and the rest of the week you charge to 80%? Sorry for asking such detailed questions but you seem to have good results. Thanks again.
@EVandThings
@EVandThings Жыл бұрын
@@vtthesuccessfinder I meant I just charge my car 3x a week totally. Plugging in every other day. And always leave max charging limit to 100%. The only variation is if I have a planned trips then I have charged my car every night to 100%.

Thanks for this. I have the same car on order but I just got the mobile connector. We’ll see how that goes. If it’s not adequate I’ll install a nema 14-50 in my garage instead of the wall charger…..too much for installation IMO.

Thanks for the video. How much did you land up paying for your electrical installation and did you just use a local electrician or a specialist company? Cheers
@EVandThings
@EVandThings 8 ай бұрын
We had a professional electrician do it and costed us a bit over 500$ But it depends on the type of connection and distance from your main power supply box and many other considerations. I have had our charger for almost 2 years now and it works great.

Do not use an extension cable to charge. Constant power draw will hear that thing up and cause fire. Unless you bought one designed to do so, and they are like $80 and up.
@EVandThings
@EVandThings Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. I use the wall connector to charge the car. That cable was just used for the video demonstration. But that's good to know that there are extensions supporting that much power.

With the prices I’ve been quoted to install 3 phase connection. I don’t think the gen3 permanent charger is good value. Money saved can be used to supercharge
@EVandThings
@EVandThings Жыл бұрын
Installation cost is a big consideration, definitely. But depending on if you plan to live in the same place for long and are playing to have an electric car supporting the charger, the convenience might outweigh the initial price.

Can you recommend electrician installing your Tesla wall charger
@EVandThings

Hi Phil, I have got mine installed from a registered Electrician, not an EV specialist. and since I was only getting 1 phase it was easy and cheaper install. So I would recommend get a quote from any electrician that you know as Tesla recommended electrician are charging quite a lot for the same Job

Hi Amit, what are your thoughts and plans around the car batteries once they reached their useful life. Can the battery be replaced by only Tesla or after market battery replacement? I understand currently, other manufacturers charges around $5.5K to replace their Hybrid batteries and we get about $500 rebate.
@EVandThings
@EVandThings 11 ай бұрын
Hi I believe the battery replacement here in Australia can cost around $14k. And personally I do not plan to keep the car beyond the battery warranty period of 7 years. I do not believe there are aftermarket batterie replacements offered in Australia so Tesla is the only choice. And there is certainly no rebate on battery replacement.

Tesla needs to "adopt the "induction charging" method of charging vehicles ASAP. This technology ihas been around for decades and is a perfect fit for "convenient charging of EV's. Charging vehicles without having to connect anything; get out of the vehicle in snow and rain; would appeal to many Tesla customers. just imagine; pulling over a lighted pad; it dings when you are in position; you just hop out and the charger later texts you when the vehicle is ready. What is not to like???

I was thinking of putting a 32A socket in and just using the mobile connector instead of the wall connector seens as I need to buy the mobile connector now anyway? 32A socket should put out similar if not the same charging speeds right?
@EVandThings
@EVandThings Ай бұрын
As far as I can recall mobile connector will support 15A current. But you still are better off using that setup on a 32 APM socket as that can save to quite a lot of money compared to getting a wall connector installed.

@EVandThings
@EVandThings Жыл бұрын
Hey Sami, 6kw/hr was the rate at which the car was charging. +19kwh is the total charge done in the charging session. And max ampere allowed for my single phase is 32A(you can choose to change this to 10A to charge your car slower, apparently that's better for the longevity of cells. ) Hope that helps.
