This video is for medical students to understand the difference between neuroleptic malignant syndrome and serotonin syndrome. Although both present with altered mental status and sympathetic nervous system over activity such as tachycardia and hypertension. The vital signs can look very similar. It’s important to consider the differential diagnosis in terms of how the patient presents, the muscular signs and neuromuscular symptoms that manifest. Hyperreflexia occurs in serotonin syndrome where as in neuroleptic malignant syndrome you get hyporeflexia. This is for medical students to get a thorough understanding
