Troy when the ball gets hit out of somebody’s glove then the runner is safe
@RDGamer3213 жыл бұрын
2:55 What seems to have happened is that they let the ball fall down so they can rag out the runner at home. But for some dumbfounded reason the umpire calls the battery out as if they caught the ball before it hit the ground, and since the runner left his plate it counts as "Stealing Home". Thats why the players are angry, because he somehow saw a ball hit the ground and said "nah someone caught it."

At 2:33, since the ball was ruled an infield fly, it's not a force play. Therefore, instead of just touching the base, the fielder, in this case, the catcher, has to actually tag the runner to get the out. I had a similar thing happen in a developmental league that I broadcast for.

2:33 is safe because the play resulted in an infield fly rule, meaning the batter is out automatically, but also means that it takes any force play out and require the fielders to tag the runners to get them out.

For those of you who don't understand the call at 1:17, the ump called the guy standing out, because he ruled that the other guy was on the base when Lawrie (the standing guy), was tagged. If two people are on the same base, by rule, the person advancing to that base, (Lawrie), is out, whereas the other guy (Reyes), is safe. Then, the umpire rules that Reyes is then tagged, obviously, not touching the base, making it a double play. I personally think that Reyes was not on the base, meaning the ump got it wrong, but that's why the guy standing up would be out when he was clearly on the base.
@ryanmitchell_rm_3 жыл бұрын
When someone goes to tag a runner and the loose control of the ball and it comes out of there glove they would be safe unless the fielder drop the ball on the transfer to his hand from his glove

@brianschaffer92203 жыл бұрын
2:50 Pretty sure I am right, but on an infield fly rule play, the batter is automatically out, taking the force play (touching the bag to get the out) out of play, forcing the fielders to tag the other baserunners to get the out. The fielders let the ball drop, so the runners do not have to tag up, like any other ball that was not caught. The other runners can move up at their own risk. Now if the defense caught the ball, the runners have to return to their previous base and tag up to advance, just like any other caught ball.
@londonaldridge72563 жыл бұрын
On one the infield fly rule was in effect which means if the ball pop flys to the infield then the batter is out, so now there is now base tag play at home, which allows that runner to score
@ScottDreyfus3 жыл бұрын
The bond play they called infield fly so it takes the force away . Batter is out no force at home and runners can advance at their own risk
