I have a rail 7, the original version. At 67 I wouldn’t be on any trail without it. And I don’t go blowing past anyone on the trail, in fact it’s usually the other way around. I do use the walk mode if I have to push it up hill. I love this bike. Thanks for the video

I have the original rail 7 too... Love it... Especially going home after work at midnight in the snow.... Can't tell you how many times that motor has helped me get home. I run errands and grocery shop on that bike... it does it all... All the best to you. rene.

I didn’t want a motocross bike. So I got the Fuel EXe. Much more like a mountain bike. I’m 65 and I used to ride a Sworks stump jumper. I just can’t keep up with my son anymore, so this is a great compromise. I still have to work my ass off to ride with him .

I installed larger 38 tooth chain ring sprocket to reduce cadence on paved rail trails. I also use narrower gravel tires that work OK for most trail types. I have the Rail 5 with lighter 500mah battery...good for 30 miles in turbo mode. Love it !

I’ve got a 2020 Rail 7 and love it! I still enjoy riding my regular Fuel EX but for faster, longer rides in a shorter amount of time? Rail 7 all the way. Enjoyed your video, keep up the good work 👍

Nice bike! ...The only performance items I would upgrade prior to a breakage would be the front damper on that domain to a Charger 2.1, basically converting it to a converting it to a Zeb Ultimate Plus. I would also upgrade that rear shock to a inexpensive but quality coil setup, Marzocchi Bomber CR rear shock. That will give you a significant performance gain in suspension that's noticeable.

I have a 2022 rail 7, upgraded the rear shock to a fox evol 230x60, it increased the rear travel from 150 to 160, did a travel increase on the domain fork to 170 plus running 4 tokens, stamp 7 pedals, wolftooth 34t chainring, oneup edc, ergon seat, dmr grips, tanus armor in the tires, want to upgrade the brakes to sram maven ultimate soon

Nice looking spot! I guess you haven´t discovered walk mode on the bike yet. Walk button on the front side of the controller (opposite to the power button - press once), then hold the plus button down. Should help with those uphill walks, (also changing gear when off the bike if youŕe in a position where itś awkward to lift the rear wheel and/ or can´t crank the pedals). Happy rail adventures man !

Where are you? This kind of looks like Colorado. Keep the power on downhill, I run turbo the whole time up and down. Nice being able to put a couple of pedals in right before a hit or just getting over the odd uphill hump and keeping your energy as you are bombing down. Doesn't really pull on the battery at all.

Thank you for this review and your thoughts. Very insightful. I just ordered this bike yesterday and chose this over the Powerfly 4 and Rail 5 because it has the bigger battery and upgraded components. Where is this? The terrain varies so much.

It’s alright.. I’ve test rode it. I have the new powerfly full suspension but honestly I do like the Bosch but I went with the Giant Trance and I got a ReignE+1 .. I got them cheaper and at a higher spec then what the rail 7 would’ve cost me.. and the Yamaha motor is solid. 👌

@@CrushedEMTB 2020. Very little changed in components and spec, except for the carbon models, which were the first bumped to the smart system (new wireless controllers and control board for the motor + new app) with the 750Wh battery. The longer battery changed the geo, making the bike less versatile/more polarising I understand. Then gen 3s came out with the later released 650Wh smart system compatible batteries for the alloy models

@@CrushedEMTB because stock rear wheel was relying on cup and cone bearings with metal cage between balls. Some customers had to warranty claim their wheels twice during two year warranty period. Once you had play in the hub (often less than two months of riding) you couldn't remove play from the bearings for more than a week of riding. Most of the cheaper trek bikes with 9mm qr rear wheels had the hub seal designed to prevent fixing the wheel once the play occurs. The cone had a metal sealing cup over it, making it impossible to tighten the nut firmly enough. Again some customers had 3 different rear wheels installed in their bikes. It is beyond me how is this cost effective for the brand. Apart from wheels, it was pretty basic. Finally they stopped selling 5, new collection starts from 7.
