You were somewhat more positive about Martin Braithwaite buying Espanyol, despite him being European and there's a decent chance he could return to Europe. I agree with the point of this video, there is an obvious conflict of interest here. We also had that in Danish football, where Andreas Bjelland became part of the investor group that owns Lyngby BK while playing for Brentford. He plays for Lyngby now, which is not a conflict of interest, but he literally played against Lyngby during his stint at Copenhagen.

The players are only a problem between their mid-twenties and mid-thirties, and they need the prospect of rehabilitation into society. The idea of making them pundits was only ever a temporary solution, we're very near the point where every fan has their own pundit. Next we have half-feral packs of former-player pundits roaming around the streets, scaring the pets and the elderly, stealing chickens.

As an FC Nantes fan, I am torn on this... On the one hand, I'd take anything to get Waldemar Kita (current owner, has called this news story "bull****!"), but on the other hand, I don't fancy the conflict of interest we'd be engaging in. However, I believe there is one solution to this that allows the takeover to happen without any conflict of interests: Trent moves to Nantes. We'd get a world-class RB/midfielder, he'd get to own his own football club.
@nbdy3833Ай бұрын
If a player owns a club, that player shouldn’t be allowed to participate in any match for another team, that then could affect the club they own, in any way They shouldn’t be allowed to buy a club while still competing in the sport at all, but if they did, they definitely shouldn’t be allowed to participate against them or in a match that could affect them no matter what

I dont have a problem with it. If thats how he wants to invest his money so be it. I think its more realistic that he lets his contract expire at liverpool than free transfers himself to the squad he owns. Their chances of playing each other in a meaningful game is slim. And Liverpool could just bench him for the game. No big deal.

Besides the obvious, owning a club even in a foreign league should be banned. Imagine a scenario where TAA is playing a French club in the UCL and he knows that Nantes will play them in a few weeks. The French team has a star winger who is really good. Trent tackles and injured him. I am not saying that Trent is a dirty player who would do this, what I am saying is that we should not even be thinking about these types of possibilities.

Investors buy a portion of the company.
