It is clear to me that magic works like physics do in the muggle world meaning that not everything is written in stone and there are fields that have yet to be understood. Starting from Lily's protection to harry. Her sacrifice activated a form of magic that was unknown. Voldemort stretched dark magic beyond what was known. The house elves wield magic that is different from wizards' magic, and goblins also have a different type of magical power. So ancient magic isn't a far stretch. Also, it makes a lot of sense that that's how dementor came to be. A dark wizard toying around with pain and human emotion for power. Isadora took people's pain for a good cause, but a dark wizard may want to take people's happiness thus leaving a human with only pain and suffering inside of them. That fits the schematics of a dementor's nature. Feeding on other's happiness.

It could very well be that draining a person of all emotion as Isidora's father was is the penultimate step in creating a dementor. For all we know once he dies, his essence becomes a dementor.

When Harry encountered a pensive for the second time we learn that pensives can be rewritten and changed slightly. We see on the first pensive Rackham shows one part of the pensive where isadora removes pain then the professors react and they end the pensive for the main character. When we reach isadoras pensive it shows that she fully saves her father's life and refills him with life while saving other students and the pensive ends with the professors disagreeing with isadora. Finally the last pensive shows that the professors want to get rid of isadora because they are against the use of ancient Magic so they attack her and kill her. It is incredibly possible that the first pensive the professors show is heavily altered to make the keepers look good and cause the main character to distrust isadora. They said "things are not what they seem," implying there is more to the pensive than what was perceived. Why would the keepers the keepers keep this information? Because it makes them look bad and power conservative, they only cared about cultivating the power within themselves and were selfish that's why they wanted to keep the power for themselves.

In my opinion, this magic that Isidora discovered is reminiscent of an addictive drug. Once you start it, you embrace the good you feel, the power you think you have. You can't stop after that first taste. You don't want to give it up. Isidora saw the good in it, but was blind to the harm it was doing. Her father, her students, and her colleagues were all affected by how obsessed she was. Those that were affected by her "dark magic" (save for Niamh) became shells of themselves because they "gave in to that dark magic". They accepted that drug, and look what became of them. She would do anything to preserve it and wanted everyone to see her perspective. But she didn't see that pain (and subsequently emotions) was a two way street. Pain can bring sadness, agony, and despair, but without it, one won't be able to experience the light at the end of it (happiness, love, joy). They're two sides of the same coin, one can't exist without the other. True, her father was grieving, but all he needed was more love and support. Grief isn't about pain. It's about healing. Isidora was blind to that. And look what happened to her. Her own ambition and obsession with power killed her in the end. The developers of this game did a great job portraying this. I made my character make sure to keep this magic hidden. It's too dangerous to be released.

I completely agree, I haven't seen another story that depicted the ability to take someones pain away, not temporarily, permanently. And then show that as the evil and selfish act that it is, one that disregards a person's trauma and pain as if it is simply a flaw in a person. Her father's grief shows his love for his son, and he may one day heal and feel powerful joy again naturally, and even if he doesn't ever recover from that loss, that is his decision, not anyone elses.

Also I believe her Dad is also at fault for the path Isidora took. She is responsible for her actions but it was also in part the absolute neglect her father showed after the death of his son that drove her to that point. He had the right to be sad and to grieve but he literally never spoke again to HIS OTHER CHILD. That is being a failure as a parent, as not only is he giving up and isolating himself from his daughter (and in turn depriving her of a general role model) but he is also the figure that's supposed to show a young Isidora that no matter the pain, they can move on. It was thanks to his failure to move on that Isidora saw pain as an absolute inescapable force that has to be literally exterminated instead of naturally overcoming it.

@@ReiseLukasisadora is also the perfect example of the keepers having a good reason not to tell future keepers with ancient magic everything ding dang thing about ancient magic and the keepers did say isadora most likely also didn’t properly do her research herself about what ancient magic is actually intended to be used for and a good keeper as good keepers would be smart enough to do more research than isadora so they wouldn’t turn out like isadora. Isadora also didn’t follow up with the people she healed to see if what she was doing actually even took away pain or if she was going way too far since she never knew what become of her father the keepers know what become of the people she healed since they saw how her father was when isadora wasn’t home and isadora most likely didn’t know what became of anyone she had healed to know if her healing even worked or not since she was too busy taking anyway all emotions from everyone else and considering it taking away peoples pain and the people she healed didn’t volunteer to healed from the start anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the people she healed are void of all emotions just like her dad is void of all emotions since isadora didn’t bother to check up on the people she was healing after she had healed them to know if she was doing anything right. She got too greedy in a way

I thought the Keepers would be the ones revealed to be “evil.” We kept seeing everything through their memories, not Isidora’s. And Isidora’s painting was the only one that was destroyed, so we never get a chance to speak with her directly. So I thought maybe there’d be that twist, that the Keepers were guiding the player to unlock their ancient magic for some nefarious purpose. But then in the end the story just went with the old “she got drunk with power” theme.

Its quite a tragedy really. I believe Isidora had good intentions in the beginning, but where the keepers failed was to check on her and get her the proper help/therapy she needed before she became obssessed. She clearly carried pain herself for her father and the death of her brother. I dont know if taking a person's pain is morally right or wrong, but where Isidora messed up was overy using it. I believe when she removed her father's pain the first time he was generally fine. But as time went on, she started to take any type of pain, emotional, physical, etc out of her father and thats what turned him emotionless.

Well we know Isidora's portrait was burnt and it's heavily implied that a Keeper did it. My money is on San, not cause he was a Slytherin but because he was the most reluctant to show memories, he used AK(tho it wasn't unforgivable then) and why would he go to see Isidora ALONE? Maybe he wanted to discuss something personal. And it's also stated Niamh died an untimely death. Feels to me like sb killed her after she was injured here.

One of this game biggest misses is the morality system. The unforgivables are called so for a reason. No dark wizard lives long enough unpunished, imagine a Hogwarts student going Voldy on everyone freely. That's lame. Instead, the unforgivables could be used as the last, truly last resort, either becoming available when a player is low on health and out of items or when heavily outnumbered.

Back in those times there was no concept of an Unforgivable Curse. The Keepers lived in the late Medieval Era during the reign of the Tudors. 1717 was the year they were classified as 'Unforgivable' and the penalty of life without parole in Azkaban was applied. I find it weird that this game offers no consequences except for other characters making some kind of remark for using the Unforgivable Curses and that Sebastian ends up being the only character who can possibly face legal consequences. As for San Bakar using the Killing Curse in the moment he did... it was one of those rare occasions where I think it was warranted. Isidora had absorbed so much power that the four of them combined were no match for her conventionally. I can't see any other way they could have put a stop to her. There have been times where limited use of the Unforgivable Curses has been permitted, like when the Ministry authorized the Aurors to use them during the First Wizarding War.

I thought of Solomon as well in this scene, but Solomon was a hypocrite because he used the dark arts. He didn’t teach Sebastian why he should be concerned with wielding them, he just took out his anger towards their parents on Sebastian. San Bakar didn’t use the spell because he was going on a genocidal rampage, he did it to stop a very evil individual. Isidora is a terrifying person because she is doing something terrible and convinced herself it was a very good thing, she doesn’t see the harm she is causing, or is in complete denial of the inconvenient truth.

Yep, Isidora was obviously in pain and she reflected the pain she was feeling on to others. In her view, she was helping others by making them not feel the emotional pain she was experiencing but it also resulted in her ignoring the harm she was doing to the people as she slowly strips away their emotions. The Professors did think they were helping Isidora by giving her these powers but they did not realize it was not power that she needed to fix her personal problems. It was others being there for her and helping her understand the pain she was feeling was part of her life.

I kinda agree with Isidora, the only evil thing she did was force her magic technique on others without permission, but in my heavily skewed opinion what she is doing is amazing and it could generate a net positive from negativity.

If she set a limit to how many time she can use this Ancient Magic to extract negative emotions so that a person does not enter a vegetable state due to losing all emotions then the professors may not have acted so negatively to her actions. However, she did not consider this either because she intentionally ignored it or was unaware of this effect due to not seeing it happen (maybe due to how it may not be apparent until a certain amount of time after she last extraction on her father). There was also signs she may have been becoming addicted to the negative emotions like a drug since she needed to absorb the negative emotions to continue using this Ancient Magic. That can also be very dangerous since we don't really know how emotional a person may become if they are constantly affected by negative emotion energy in the long term. There is a lot of questions about this Ancient Magic but sadly this game does not fully explore it due to wanting to keep Ancient Magic mostly unknown like all Harry Potter contents does with Ancient Magic.

Exactly. Isidora was performing this magic on people who should not be able to consent: Muggles(her dad), and students. Add insult to injury, this was a form of magic that was for all intents and purposes, still in the unpredictable testing phase. So if something goes wrong, she should absolutely bear the full brunt of the responsibility of whatever damage she causes.

So you must remain aware of the danger of healing someone out of selfishness and a need to control everything. If you love and respect someone, you will let them choose their own path, offer help, but respect if they decline. It is not your place to say that someone should give up their pain regardless of what they believe, pain is a natural part of life, it is personal and gives Joy meaning. In the story, once pain is gone it releases great joy in a person, but soon enough they lose the will to live, their soul, because Joy cannot exist without pain, once one is removed the other fades as well, leaving a husk of their former selves.

I hate how they went with the stereotype route of good and evil. It would have been such a great reveal showing that the Keepers were in fact the evil ones, only hoarding their power and never using it unless they could get something for it in return. Being disgusted with Isadora who not only found a way to take away people's pain, but store that power as magic to enhance one's magical capabilities, up to or even beyond the power of the select few who wield ancient magic. The conflict between those with unique abilities and believing themselves superior, using it only for their own benefits. And those that have unique abilities and believing it is their calling to give it their all to help and save others. (Also pretty hypocritical to kill Isadora with the killing curse) Having Isadora just being evil was a big letdown. Just as much as Sebastian's slow spiral into becoming more evil and an emotional wreck. Would have been incredible to have him being extremely composed, and only using the unforgivable curses when necessary, showing people that they can be used as a tool for good as well, by only ever using them in grave need.

To be fair, San shows a example of using the killing curse when absolutely necessary. And Isdora wasn’t evil in the traditional sense. She thought she was doing good, but her concept of pain had become so completely warped she only cared about removing it, unable to see the consequences of doing so.

Bro, San killed Isidora when he dind't need to. He could have used any spell to disarm her, but he just killed her. Seh wasn't even that evil. She had an idea to help people and dind't think the consequences through.

@@nevermore7285 There was no need at all to use the killing curse on Isadora. Even now I don't even see why those four were so horrified by her magic. It genuinely helped people and the only real problem was that if it was used too much it could wipe a person clean from emotion, and the "byproduct" could be used for bad. But medicine can also be used for bad when its done in large doses, turning it into a poison. Isadora was not wrong, in fact things would never have escalated to this point of those four idiots would not have flown of the handle after seeing something new they did not understand, and instead helped her develop it in a cautious way. Its like the broom merchant in Hogsmead said. Everyone was against his attempts to improve upon existing broom knowledge, acting as if his alterations would ruin brooms forever. Yet he ended up improving them instead. Isadora fell to madness due to being exiled and secluded. Would she have had genuine teachers supporting her and aiding her when needed. She would never have gone so far to prove herself. She convinced herself she had to prove her point by going further and further, and her reward for trying to help was being blasted with the unforgivable killing curse. Those four look like hypocrites to me even now.

@@nevermore7285 And if you want and example of the killing curse used for good purposes. The game slapped me in the face with that one. Doing the final mission for Natty Onai, we went to fight Harlow. I considered he was too dangerous to be left alive, and would surely try to do harm even after defeating him. So obviously I blasted him with the killing curse. Only for the game to slap me in the face and giving me a cut-scene of him being alive. As a last cowardly move he tries to hit my character with Crusio, having Onai jump in the way to take the hit for me. See this could have been prevented if the game would have let me simply do what I wanted, and kill him instantly with Avada Kadavra.

@@filmgedons3591 I still don't even get why it was so bad to begin with. It could erase emotion and memories, "Oh no" Literally what can be done with Obliviate spells too. Only difference is there is no byproduct magic that makes one stronger if they absorb it. And that you erase a memory rather then a emotion. Overall I feel as if her method could not have been bad at all when used in moderation. (reducing pain to bearable levels rather then completely erasing them)
