I'm 35 too, Also a dad of 3 kids. Halo is my all time favorite game but the time I have to play is super limited now. I am excited for the next Halo game but I also question if i'll even have the the time or desire to play it by the time it comes out. Late 2026 sounds like an eternity right now.

For me I always remain a halo fan and enjoy it. My issue now is that it’s the community that tends to ruin the experience for me. With doom and gloom and it reaching a height of people actively wanting something to hate, even if it’s nothing. Or bash people that have guilty pleasures like halo 4. It’s tiring and even left to me no longer being subscribed to many KZbinrs due to clickbait and doom and gloom or just groveling at rumors.

I'm going to have to disagree with this take. All the Bungie era games had high praise. Halo 2 and 3 had record breaking midnight launches. To be clear, these two Xbox exclusive titles, set records. Even after the Xbox 360 came out, Halo 2 still managed to be the most played game on Xbox Live until Halo 3 came out. Halo 3's online population was pretty much unbeatable until Modern Warfare 2 released, and even then it was still one of the most played games on xbox live. People definitely appreciated and loved Halo for what it was back in the day. It's the very fact that we appreciated it for what it was at the time that has so many people displeased with 343 for releasing sub par, unfinished content, and it's why so many fans have moved on at this point.

It's nice to love something, but this is a classic case of learning to Let It Go. I let it go last month, and switched over to fortnite, and couldn't be more happier! I realized that I was seeking the community. If this is taught me anything as an old gamer, it's to try new things and keep an open mind at all times and every facet of life! You can always pivot! You see the writing on the wall. It would be nice to have you in the fortnite realm. It's waiting for you! And once that's done, we'll let it go as well. Fortnite’s terrible it’s liturally wat ruined gaming is never switch to that I even played it for a couple yrs on and off and it’s trash. I’ve played 126 different games this year and none of them do it for me from a pvp aspect but the story games can b good sometimes but wen it comes to that daily grind pvp game there’s nothing as good as halo was or even close to it so there’s no other option but to hold on to halo and hope for the best

This waiting period is getting pretty worrying but these uncontested times could be a huge advantage serving as a pregame for us to experiment and stack our skills. Also, while a lot of the old content formats don't really work anymore, I still believe that there's ways for them to be repurposed with modern twists. (Ex. adding a narrative focus to challenges, adding stakes and consequences to gameplays, turning news into documentary styled vids, etc.) Would love to chat about this one day, lots of opportunity and ideas that have not been touched by this community!

Still playing and having fun in Halo Custom Edition for 20 years now. MCC mods are a great time too. And i waited with starting Infinite until like 3 months ago, which was a great idea since it really is a in 1.0 state now, I am having a lot of fun in Custom games and the forge is the best we ever had. Yeah the campaign story is bad, but the story of has been ruined since Halo 4 and I am not expecting it to ever get good again after that shitshow from H4, but the gameplay in the campaign is great and finally felt like a successor to H3 (just missing an epic moment like the beach landing from CE or the tank battle from H3) and if you replace the Infinity in the beginning cutscene with the Dawn, then this would be a good H4 replacement. To cut out H4 & 5 out of the time line. Yes they ruined the chances for a big playerbase for Infinite by releasing it in an alpha/beta state and keeping it that way for 2 years, since the only day that matters for the masses is the release day, if it's not hitting it on that day then it's dead for 90% of all players. But that doesn't mean that we can't have fun with a small playerbase.

I feel that the focus has been on the 4v4 experience and barely any on the upgraded BTB mode they boasted about in the beginning! On top of that Squad Battle has like 8 modes while BTB has 16. Where is my Squad Battle Fieasta CTF!!😂

I love halo very much but i have had no drive or incentive to play/grind it out besides trying to hit Hero. But even trying to hit Hero has felt like a chore more than an enjoyable experience. I know ill comeback to halo ininfte again and play for a bit but I'm probably going to be playing the games that get regular updates/ have more things to do on them.

I have so many Forge map ideas, and it sucks because, yeah, same, burnt out. Also, I miss how KZbin was when growing up watching Halo content creators. I've always wanted to be those guys and to an extent I am and I'm proud of that. However, now adays it feels like a needle in the haystack for non-mainstream content to even surface on my front page, which makes it hard for smaller creators to create and share with the community of said non-mainstream content. So many creators are singing into the void, unless you join like a hundred discords lmao (not just halo tubers btw) Speaking for myself, being a small creator on KZbin is like being a money starved musician on the sidewalk in Hollywood . 😅😫

There's nothing wrong with taking time away from a game to play other things or just focus on life for a while. In fact, I think that's healthier than playing one single game or franchise 24/7! I think not enough gamers understand that. That's also kind of the strength of live service games too, that every few months it's still refreshing to come back to with new content to look forward to. I am hitting that point a bit with Infinite at the moment, where I feel there's simply other games and things that are more worth my attention right now. But Halo in general has always been that franchise that I find my way back to, in between breaks and playing other things.

We need a new trailer for the next game at e3, as well as announcing at e3 that warzone and warzone firefight will be coming to infinite, as well as a battle royale mode. This will bring hype about the halo franchise, causing people to want to play something halo, and halo infinite will have this new and reprised content for everyone to hop on and try out, and hopefully it attracts good attention from streamers as well. We saw this happen with Fallout when the show came out. The show was good and there was tons of mainstream hype surrounding the fallout IP, and fallout 4 got a huge boost in players as a result.

Im in my mid 30s as well now and I am a very casual halo player. idk if im just getting older or the game just doesn't feel fun anymore. its too "competitive" style where the original games were more simple and had less of a learning curve to be decent. now i turn it on maybe a couple times a month i might play 1 game and just turn off the xbox. a lot of times i wont even finish the game it just feels like work now. I would love if they had a game where you played as marines, and it was more like maybe battlefield where you use a lot more vehicles and heavy weapons. i guess on the bright side ive just been reading the books for the first time

These days I play halo because………halo is the game I play and have always played. Mainly I switch my brain off and have a podcast playing, some matches engage me, some I just zone out and go through the motions. It’s a shame but the as great as the gameplay is the lack of sandbox expansions and slow trickle of maps and modes just don’t do enough to keep it fresh enough. It makes me sad.

I just going to be brutally honest, it takes six years to make aaa games in this day and age with a full studio, now with the management change the mass lay offs that happened during a company wide hiring freeze(all of Microsoft) and switching to unreal engine how much work do you think they have gotten done, not trying to sound mean but it’s like halo fans and content creators live in this fairytale land mindset, and with abk and Bethesda Microsoft doesn’t have to worry rushing out halo games, so looking at the reality of thing I would be massively shock if we see anything next halo game related next summer.

Honestly i love kevinkoolx but i think hes a very intense halo player. As a person who is now in his unc phase and is just a casual player... this is my favorite halo. I love it. I'll be playing for a looooong time.... like 30min to an hour and a half 1 - 2x a week tho. Maybe if i was playing like kevinkoolx i'd feel the same, but thats why i dont make videogames my life.

I feel like Halo Infinite was the last chance to create a widely popular and successful arena-style Halo game. I just can’t see another release from the 'new' dev team succeeding if it sticks to the traditional 4v4 and Big Team Battle format. Moving forward, I think the only viable path for Halo is either crafting exceptional campaign-only titles or taking a completely new and modernized approach to multiplayer. As a longtime Halo fan, especially of the multiplayer, I’ll always hope for an amazing classic arena-style Halo game-but I don’t think that’s the future for the franchise anymore.

Here's what I invasion. Halo Studios and other studios work single player campaigns. At the same time they continue to add to infinite as the default multiplayer for the games infinite 2.0. They transfer everything to unreal including the cosmetics players have already purchased. Bring back seasons, update network, bring back Warzone, and eventually a Br mode.

I agree with the feeling of burnout on the franchise with how up and down it’s been both in quality and communication from the studio. Honestly, the franchise has one more shot to do something to recapture an audience. The last 2 main line games are considered failures by both the general audience and the developers/publisher. The first real attempt to branch out beyond books and videos games with the TV show was a total dumpster fire. $500 million to develop Slipspace and Infinite. $10 million an episode for the TV show, so about $200 million for that. Microsoft is out almost three quarters of a *BILLION* on Halo in the last 5 years with very, *very* little to show for it except for derogatory memes and an apathetic to hostile fanbase. As much as Microsoft doesn’t want to publicly admit their tentpole IP is in the shitter, it very much is and they are keenly aware of it. I cannot see them continuing to absorb such insane losses coupled with such wildly negative feedback past 1 more attempt to reverse the trend. I think the reason 343i/HS is even getting another shot is because even though Infinite failed there were some genuinely positive trends that can be capitalized on if the studio isn’t headed up by a bunch of chimps, hence the mass top floor restructuring. This is all just my layman’s opinion, of course, and it may just be I’m huffing copium, but we’ll see what the next few years bring.

Ever since the last Infinite season, the game has been crashing for me on PC. Used to not experience crashes - but at this point the game has become unplayable. I'm very frustrated because Infinite is the only game that crashes, no other game does not even Infinite used to do that. And I'm also frustrated by 343 abandoning every story thread they introduce and always being reactionary and trying to course correct while throwing out things that never got a chance to be properly developed. It's become really hard to be a Halo fan.

For me it was the controller AA volume that made ranked not enjoyable from a MNK perspective and the SBMM making the social part not social and fun, always carry 3 bots vs another dude carrying his 3 bots for a 50-48 slayer gets boring after 3 games. So yes, burnt out and i just ocassionaly play it or watch some HCS.

@@Hollowtide Nexon revealed that it's not performing as hoped but I think it's still quite healthy, on Steam it has 4.4 times the daily concurrent players of Halo Infinite and is well supported. Then anything can be, if it's at risk of being shut down all the more reason I would play it while it's still possible, for me it's the nicest surprise in the multiplayer shooter landscape of the last decade.

The problem with Halo is that it hasn't grown past the Arena 4v4 successfully. It just been the same thing repeatedly since it's been out. For example, it doesn't matter what kind of armor you wear as a Spartan because every player has the exact same traits. This is one of the many reasons why Halo has gone downhill over the years.

Its a game. Maybe peoples problems is there expectation that its supposed to devour their life like they are 16 again. And they are ALWAYS going to be disappointed when it's not this earth shattering cultural phenomenon. We all want our favorite thing to be the big thing. Especially KZbinrs who obviously obsess over it for views. But its unhealthy. Its created a toxic, atrocious community to be a part of that almost no one new wants to join. So many people helped make yhe entire experience miserable, and then wonder where all the hype and love and excitement for the franchise went. Eww, those baked in captions are just a little too high or the font is a little too big or both. Yeah, your reticule is still visible but at times the gameplay is very hard to follow through the captions. Honestly I wouldn't care if the in game AI captions were obscured by the added captions.
