A lot of Source Filmmaker's issues are probably due to the version of the Source engine it utilizes being severely outdated in comparison to the game it's trying to replicate. Such as functions there are in the game simply not being present in this animation software because it was not present in that version of the engine when it was released publicly. And due to the nature of Valve being mostly in their own shell doing whatever Valve does, SFM has essentially been abandonware. So the community has had to dig around and come up with their own solutions to these various issues. Not to mention that a majority of the content in TF2 now is not officially made by Valve, rather made by the community. Such as maps and various cosmetics, all of which can be made differently that SFM doesn't always support.

I'd say blender is easier to.use, but I also now have hundreds of hours in blender just modelling as opposed to the minutes I spent in SFM wondering what ungodly shitstorm I walked into
