I got to see an old fashioned toothpick maker and it was basically just a log on a crank. You’d turn it and out would pop So many toothpicks, it was amazing!

There are a few episodes on this series that I consider to be true classics: Bacon, Chocolate, Oysters, a few others. But this one has definitely joined those ranks.

The steak knife looks to be an expedient fix. That L-shaped rail used to extend further to the right; you can see the full grey areas where it broke off. Looks like some genius JB welded a knife onto the machine to keep the rail in place, and it’s still holding up today!

Getting it fixed the normal way involves filling out a maintenance report and waiting for the maintenance people to have an opening in their schedule to come down and fix it. Just sticking a knife in the machine as a shim works much better.
