"When the car is painted..." Only there's very few teams that paint their cars anymore, they have a company that makes vinyl wraps that go on the body and 2-3 crew members put it on the car, smooth it out, and take a exacto-knife and cut the excess off, then apply the headlight and car logo decals

The previous generations had their nose made from steel so this wasn't really a problem, the sixth generation cars have composite front ends which are are an absolute joke in terms of durability and cost. The CoT at least did something things right. They were extremely durable and also cheaper. The cars pretty much never shattered. Now if only they weren't dependent upon the front splitter, which is another common point of failure.

Techincally speaking, all of the cars are "stock" per a given formula. So there's that. There are also a lot of choices and adjustments going on underneath the skin. Most of it is engineering based, but there are also mechanical adjustments. Otherwise, yes it's still a highspeed chess parade with crashes until you get to the road courses. Then it's overweight american cars trying to be real race cars, which in and of itself is hilarious.

With the new "NEXT GEN" cars...I'd like to know EXACTLY how much has changed. From what I've seen, the NEXT GEN cars are closer to Indy cars than "Stock Cars".
@mindcrime8282 жыл бұрын
The chassis has been redesigned to provide more driver safety and with front and rear clips that are bolted on, rather than welded. The NextGen car will also have rack and pinion steering, coil over shocks instead of springs, independent rear suspension, ram air induction, dual side exhaust, a composite body, 18" aluminum wheels, and a 5-speed sequential shift transaxle. The new body is symmetrical like a production car, and outside of the greenhouse is mfg specific design. Most of these changes better align the race car with it's production counterpart than before, with exception of having to use a single lug nut with the larger aluminum wheels.

I always wanted to know why the car takes airborne when going backwards I still don't get it (edit): thanks for the answers
@anthonyf.30094 жыл бұрын
At the speed the cars go, if you go backwards, air gets under the car. There is more space under the car at the back then at the front. The air then acts like a ramp. Roof flaps keep the cars on the ground by redirecting the air (I don't know where, maybe the cockpit).
@caidenshafer69514 жыл бұрын
The cars are designed to go 200mph FORWARD and not fly off the track. When you turn all of that stuff that keeps it on the ground, backwards, and then add a huge air pocket underneath the car when it goes backward, especially at such high speeds, you end up with a flying car. There is just only so much you can do at such high speeds.
