@theshinyskuntank59555 ай бұрын
I think it might be because bronze (in a similar way to gold) can be dented up easily. Over time, if bronze medals were entirely bronze, the medal might get scratched or marked more easily than if it were what the alloy currently is. This is likely a similar line of thinking with the gold medals, except cost is likely much more of a factor when producing them. Hope this explanation makes sense. ❤

329 gold medals would be worth 8.3 million dollars. A lot, but honestly billions are made on the Olympics off the back of those athletes. That really isn't a ton to ask for. But, gold is extremely heavy and soft. That much gold would not be easy to move, or wear around your neck.

It's fine. I can hold it inmy hand and not wear it on my neckso long as its 100% gold. These athletes are paid peanuts honestly @poeticalvision

1:52 Thousands of olympic medals do not need to be made for each olympic event. There might be a few cases were multiple gold, silver, or bronze medals are needed for one even due to a tie, but that is uncommon. There are 329 medal events in the 2024 summer olympics, so it is reasonable that more than 329 medals of each kind must be made. Also, certain medaling events necessitate large team sizes due to the number of players needed for such spot. This will also greatly increase the minimum medal production of each kind to way over 329.

True, but in the case of gold it’s too soft to metals or coins so in order to straighten it and make it stronger, they mix in some little bit of silver and copper copper will make it stronger. Silver will give it it’s shine
