Incredible build and very well explained. The steering arms for your Ackerman Centre should each point towards the centre of the rear axle.

This is incredible!! Do the front wheels not get rotated at a constant rate by the steering wheel because those u joints aren’t constant velocity joints? And if so, is there a replacement CV joint you could make out of wood?

They turn at different angles by design. It’s called ackermann steering geometry and it works due to the geometry of the sticks making up the system. Look up videos on ackermann steering. It’s a really fascinating concept.

@@GenericWoodworking right the wheels get turned different amounts compared to each other but Im saying isn't the rotational velocity of the steering wheel going to be different than the rate at which the wheels get turned? Or is this the action that creates the ackerman steering

Ooh I misunderstood you there. That doesn’t have anything to do with ackermann but is instead just a bit of a design flaw. However I don’t think the negative effect it has on steering feel would be very noticeable.

I decided not to. I’m capable of making far more complicated mechanisms now. I’m working on a new car right now and it’ll be 100% modeled in 3D so therefore will also have plans for it.
