This is incredible!! Do the front wheels not get rotated at a constant rate by the steering wheel because those u joints aren’t constant velocity joints? And if so, is there a replacement CV joint you could make out of wood?
@GenericWoodworking
@GenericWoodworking 3 жыл бұрын
They turn at different angles by design. It’s called ackermann steering geometry and it works due to the geometry of the sticks making up the system. Look up videos on ackermann steering. It’s a really fascinating concept.
@jacobcleveland1594
@jacobcleveland1594 3 жыл бұрын
@@GenericWoodworking right the wheels get turned different amounts compared to each other but Im saying isn't the rotational velocity of the steering wheel going to be different than the rate at which the wheels get turned? Or is this the action that creates the ackerman steering
@GenericWoodworking
@GenericWoodworking 3 жыл бұрын
Ooh I misunderstood you there. That doesn’t have anything to do with ackermann but is instead just a bit of a design flaw. However I don’t think the negative effect it has on steering feel would be very noticeable.
