We are sort of in the stage of figuring out what type of wedding we want because a lottttttt is going on next year aside from the wedding and we'd like to avoid being overwhelmed. Surprisingly he is actually excited about planning a wedding. Wasn't expecting that. So far we are thinking of Jamaica or St Lucia around 80 guests. taking a Dj from Canada and getting local stylists and photographers. I'm not really picky so as long as the food and music are good..our people will have a good time!

OMG Shevani your proposal and fiancé are soooo sweet! Of course he's excited - he was singing and dancing with a gigantic grin on his face when you said YES 😍It'll be a beautiful wedding no matter where you choose! I love Jamaica and St. Lucia sooo very much! They're VERY different but great food is guaranteed and you're bringing music so easy peasy! If you'd like to chat about the differences, I'd be happy to help - and I'm opening up the FB Group soon and we have a good # of St. Lucia + Jamaica desti brides so you can bounce ideas off of each other too! You definitely wanna consider the logistics for travel for you + guests. Do you live in Canada?

Hi and congratulations on your engagement DESTIBRIDE D'Andrea! I totally understand - we definitely go in on our interviews 🤣 Jamaica is pretty straight-forward if neither of you have been married before so photo-IDs (passport/drivers' license), birth certificates, are what you'll bring from home. This is a great question and I will definitely do a more detailed video and/or post soon, but here's the answer: In JA, a declaration form will need to be completed and signed by a witness (family, friend, planner, etc.) and a minister's marriage license needs to be completed and stamped in office. both will be submitted to Ministery of Justice along with fees. A planner should be able to help get the job done more easily. Send a DM or email to me at [e-mail] if you'd like more help. I can point you in the direction of the forms and everything btw...where and when are you planning to elope?

I'll add that a lot of people do what I did which is complete the legal paperwork portion at home and have a symbolic ceremony at the destination. It's much easier and streamlines the process a great deal. I have a couple blog posts about it but let me know if you have any questions about that too!
