Cory Palmer Man, I’m from Memphis. JT is from a town nearby called Millington - it is predominantly white but has a far share of black people. Memphis predominately black, and soooo many people here used to say he was “honorary black” because he was “from here”. That man is from MILLINGTON. Not here, and that always pisses me off. Surrounded by white people mostly. But he has ALWAYS used his proximity to African American culture (quite literally) to make him give him some extra flavor. People just eat it up. Some of them black. It just makes me sick.

You can’t erase the legacy of Janet. Her career has been strong since mid 70s when she started out with her brothers, and her music career has been going on almost 40 years. Her career may have taken a "hit" at one point, but even then, she still had #1 hits, #1 album (twice) in the country, NAACP Movie award, NYs #1 Best Selling Book (True You), endorsements on NutriSystem, and number one singles. Exactly! Justin should’ve gotten all the heat since he’s the one that exposed Janet’s nipple. It’s telling how much privilege is there. White men milking R&B styles and forms of music can still have success, while black women expressing themselves and their sexuality are blacklisted or not paid attention to at all. It sucks, these industry double standards.

Even the recent 'cheating' scandal with his film co-star is with a black woman. My guess is that he is trying to suck up to the black community to gain their respect and make them forget about the incident.

She really deserves to be glorified. She has broken boundaries! No shade at none of the other girls but the way Janet dances, how she uses her voice in music is phenomenal! I do appreciate the couple or few girls who praise her and still aspire to be her (tinashe, teyana Taylor "and now" Ciara). But I still feel like that's not enough... Where is her 30 years in the industry tribute like MJ had?!?! She does not get her just due! 😥

@@user-zy2ck1ob5x MJ is tributed ALL YEAR long. You've seen how many artist and how OFTEN they mention MJ. And I get it.. he's a legend. But so is Janet... Janet took that break when she got married to that man from over seas and was gone for 7 years.. Who mentioned her? She wasn't even a conversation until SHE started it when she came back for the unbreakable tour ...... its shame. BET was the first to hop on the bandwagon when she came from her hiatus... Then the billboard awards, so that only 2 TELEVISED shows in AMERICA. I'm waiting on the Grammys to do something, the AMA's to do something again, BET to tribute her like they did the others. Point is, Janet has been getting the short end of the stick for the past couple decades despite seeing HER WORK in MANY of the artist after her and present. Proofs out there, you can COUNT a small number amount of times she's been verbally praised by these girls... Only people who religiously mentions her is Tinashe and Teyana Taylor. Ciara JUST started a couple years ago.

Oh TPTB tried so hard to not only damage her reputation, but destroy her entire legacy. She accomplished far too much in her career to ever be forgotten. 1. 27 Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 songs. 10 of them going #1 2. 16 #1 R&B Songs 3. The Rhythm Nation tour is the biggest selling debut tour ever by an artist (almost 2.5 million tickets sold) 4. Her music pioneered 3 music subgenres. (Control pioneered New Jack Swing, the single That's The Way Love Goes pioneered Neo-soul, and The Velvet Rope pioneered Alternative R&B). 5. She is a main inspiration and influence among every female (solo or group) performer within the last 25 years. 6. She has sold well over 100 million albums and singles worldwide. She has achieved so much more, but these are only a few examples. What she has done can't be done by a novelty act or washed-up has been. It's done by a living legend because that is what she is.
