That's interesting, this is the first time I hear the difference between acting in plays and acting for a film in that way. Usually artist say acting in plays is more unpredictible cause audience change every night and you can get better in each play and a film is just that moment, a unique shot is made into the movie there is no changes. And for Jessica is not that way, she feels more surprise in movies rather than plays, interesting point of view.

So many of these youtube interview clips with Chastain are so insightful. I used to look for her appearances on late night shows to promote her films, but these clips are better! (Not counting her Charlie Rose interviews, which were mind-blowing.) Of course, she is unusually eloquent about her craft. Everything I know and love about acting, I learned from studying her.

Yes. I can relate to the puppet thing. In my actingshool i had an director who was just using me as a puppet. And at the end of all the reharsing i was still bad. I didnt feel the character. It didnt felt real, or right. I was bad because he didnt gave me space to explore, to create, to breathe. And i needed that. I needed space to let my vision of the character flow.
