There was an ESPN interview with Rogan and some boxing talking head, early 2000's, I think? ESPN's Brian Kenney hosted the segment and was asking Rogan all the right questions as Rogan completely destroyed the boxing shill with his knowledge of both MMA and boxing. I think that interview had a huge impact on fans becoming more interested in MMA, and the UFC in particular.

It’s just so obvious that Joe is a casual MMA fan these days, and that’s ok. But if you are going to be commentating on these huge cards, with a massive amount of people watching, you HAVE to be knowledgable on these fighters on the card. Joe just does not care about young fighters unless they are some viral sensation. It is time for him to go. He helped build the UFC but there’s no room for casual UFC fans at the desk anymore.
