In the end Bill said “We’ll leave it there, and move on,” to which he introduced a new topic. My dad, who watches mainstream news, has been saying for about two decades now that his generation is the last TV generation. Especially for news. He thinks getting it from the internet is way better because you have ALTERNATIVES. He's just old enough to not bother with relearning his approach. I'm inclined to agree. The only disadvantage I see is that with mainstream news, they are at least A BIT scrutinized, whereas the wildly different sources on the net aren't always since there are so many. I don't think that's a problem once you get into your mid-late twenties and especially 30s/40s onward if you have internet experience. But kids/teens are gonna have a huge problem figuring out what's what in terms of honest news vs. blatant propaganda. That’s a good point. HOWEVER Have you watched one of his podcasts? Rogan notoriously sees and talks about both sides of the coin. He specifically points out arguments from opposing views on any given subject and openly shares his own opinions WITHOUT TRYING TO HIDE HIS BIAS. Thats probably the biggest reason he’s become so popular. His content is long form and nuanced while these major long standing news networks are literally chopping up videos taking them out of context making it seem like people are supporting something that they aren’t and posting these edited videos on TikTok. Joe interviews people from the left and from the right, while these networks pick and choose. Joe lets people he doesn’t agree with finish speaking and these network interviewers interrupt if the message of the interviewee doesn’t align with theirs.
