Most characters are used as plot devices rather than as actual characters and most of them were wasted even at the shibuyua incident. We never see gojo teaching Nobara and Yuki was wasted. Sukuna is a boring and one dimensional villain and Kenjaku was wasted. Even toji was more of a plot point for Gojo to unlock hollow purple.

For the majority of it's run, Kubo just *would not* kill any of the good guys, even when if killing them off would have been better for the story; Byakuya in TYBW being the quintessential example. JJK sounds like it has the opposite problem - the author is way too eager to kill members of his cast when he'd be better served not doing so carelessly.

I dunno if I believe it, honestly. *Someone* interfered there, I think, because Byakuya's would-be death was pretty much perfect. I think it was more likely that Shuiesha intervened than fan backlash, though. We *know* for a fact that they interfered heavily in the Arrancar arc - that's why we saw shinigami in Hueco Mundo. Like, that's a confirmed fact.

I agree about cool curse techniques we lost, but as far as story I'm okay with a character dying suddenly in the middle of their journey. Seems to be part of the point of the show, and they've even mentioned how that can result in them "cursing" others in the living world (like Nanami not wanting to curse Yuji). It's also why I enjoy Hunter X Hunter, 'cause this happens a lot in that story too. My only small complaint is maybe I wish it happened a tad less, but I'm okay with the results.

My biggest issue with JJk in all honesty is just that it kills too many characters too often without exploring their full potential. Nobara, Nanami, ect. So many characters that have a lot of potential but are just killed off seemingly on a whim. I don't even mind the occasional character death here and there, heck i'm a jojo fan but I feel like characters like Nobara should have at least been killed closer to the end of the story rather then mid way through.

@@Merilirem I would have at least liked to have seen her get a W by herself and have something like a Domain or Maximum technique. Something to prove she was worthy of being a grade 1 sorcerer. Megumi had one why not her? She's the tritagonist she should be just as important as Megumi. The only reason Itadori doesn't have one is because he doesn't have a technique to work with for his domain at this point in the story. If Nobara at least had that then I probably wouldn't be as dissapointed about her death since at least some of her potential as a sorcerer would have been explored. But all she ever gets is Resonance, hair pin and a single Black flash she never pulls off again. She doesn't even have so much as a simple domain which just makes her feel like fodder against any character who does have a domain.

Like unless the characters are already set in relationships, or set up to be in one, usually it's destined that the leading man and leading lady will get together. Off the top of my head the exception where there's zero romantic intention from the writer for either character is Goku and Bulma. I'm not exactly sure where this discourse comes from, but it's interesting at least. But most of my info comes from an OSP video, so I'm no expert on the subject.

It's just a cycle of repetition that leaves readers for excitement but ends up with disappointment because you already know Sukuna is going to survive everything thrown at him. Writing a battle isn't that hard, you have a start, middle and conclusion. And add unpredictability there and it makes it an amazing fight. But when you know who's going to win and how there's no excitement. You keep mentioning everything has been built up for this fight yet it doesn't feel like it. It got boring because it's too predictable and doesn't deliver hype moments because Sukuna takes all of it away since he always barely gets damaged which makes everything useless in the grand scheme. New techniques come but they leave so much to be desired because they absolutely don't deliver upon it.

We got like 3 techniques, Hajimes was sick as hell, being able to use electromagnetic shit as attacks is cool af, Miguel's was a new take on what can be a technique, dancing and getting buffs to yourself along with Miguel bein a good dancer and good character makes for a cool yet short battle, Larue's is also very interesting, being able to grab the attention of someone is really interesting and useful as a support, not to mention it opened the gate to Yuji's 8 or somn black flashes which were hype in their own right. It feels like they're literally making shit up as they go, what is being exhanged and gained is highly volatile. Nanami gave up 20% power most of the day to gain 120% and suprass his power limit in the evening. Then we have Sukuna who gives up nothing and only gain benefits with "binding vows" Pretty sure he even broke a vow with no consequences. Because there are no consequences unless it's done between two people? Why? Idk, lazy writing, can't have actual consequences to binding vows, limits the asspulls one can make.

I think things like Black Flash kind of contribute to the annoyance that some feel towards the recent events in jjk. Unlike cursed techniques or abilities that have been, or at least can be explained, black flash has always felt like sort of a gimmick. It's just something that doesn't have any hard rules to it like almost everything else in the series does so it ends up feeling more like a plot device to produce whatever outcome Gege wants rather than an explainable or sensible occurence. Black Flash is starting to feel like the JJK equivalent of "the power of friendship" or whatever other plot induced power-up characters get in series with less flexible power systems and/or worse writing. It feels a bit out of its element in a series like JJK.

Just to add to that, I first thought Black Flash would be a really hard move to pull off, like only the most dedicated sorcerers could master it. That way it would kinda be like Yujis Rasengan (something to master as a special trump card). The writer then said that it's actually impossible to control when a Black Flash activates, nobody can do it on purpose. Despite this, the show then proceeds to have Yuji do it like 5 times in a row and it ends up feeling cheap, like it only worked for him cause he's the protagonist and not because he earned it through diligent perfection.

This is actually my biggest gripe with the show. Black Flash is dumb. I kind of love the idea of an in-universe critical hit, because even if a character is losing you could hold out hopes (or fear) that maybe they'll get lucky and turn the tide of battle, except this is not that. It just feels like if you try reaaaaally hard, you'll get a Black Flash because you're just that special. Yuji either pulled out his Game Genie and gave himself an 80% critical rate offscreen or he can actually execute Black Flashes at will. And you know what's worse? A Black Flash is just a big punch/kick, it isn't exciting on its own, the idea that it could just happen at any moment is what made it interesting and they fucking took it away.

i think the biggest issue is burnout it reminds me of how araki had to switch from weekly to monthly for part 7 because he was burnt out and the quality had started to go down, and since moving to ultra jump monthly releases his work has only gotten better. i hope more manga/animation studios start realizing this but it's honestly just part of the wider social issues that japan struggles with so idk if its gonna happen any time soon

In my opinion the biggest flaw in JJK is the lack of reinforcing the world building. We hear it numerous times that Sukuna is the strongest because of X but they never directly show it. Also the lack of international sorcerers and the latest chapters confirming that its basically japanese centrict again ruins the suspension of disbelief with the plot.

Yeah, we really need to more context to take seriously the idea that something as apparently fundamental to human nature as curses and jujutsu only exists in Japan. Like what exactly happened to cause that and why hasn't it spread around the world after literally thousands of years (like every other esoteric tradition IRL has)? You can understand stories whose magic started more recently, blame the isolationist period, or that are hyper local (one small town with weird characters can definitely fly under the radar etc). But Gege's take just isn't working.

Gojo’s death was predictable. The real problem is that his death was meaningless. It didn’t serve anything apart from saying to the readers that Sukuna is a poor baby who doesn’t know what love is and stating that Gojo was not as strong as we thought. All of this has just shown how miserable Gojo’s life was. The guy was not able to protect the girl he was asked to, he could save his best friend and ended up killing him, he couldn’t protect his students or live up to their expectations, he was not even able to save the one student he has the strongest bond with (Megumi I mean) and at the end of his life, he was told (by Nanami) he was an insensitive and egotistical jerk and that everyone knew about that. With all the strength and power he was born with, the guy never managed to do anything useful in his life when he really needed to. Gege really did his best to make his life as pathetic as possible. Well, Gege even put the racist flag on him lately.

i think the second Gege started coming up with bs reasons for Sukuna to win every fight is when jjk kind of died. Like the fight with Gojo was pretty understandable, but Sukuna wasn't even in his Heian Era form yet so he was significantly less powerful, yet tanked a 200% purple, and so many other moves from Gojo that should have SEVERELY if not out right killed him in that form. Not to mention the plot holes and plots that have been left completely behind, like the Merger plot, the whole reason Sukuna is even fighting the sorcerers, and Hakari being almost as powerful as Gojo. Also, remember when Maki stabbed Sukuna straight through the HEART and bro had to use cursed energy to keep it beating? what happened to that? It said he was unable to use rct to heal it due his fight with Gojo, so it would have to heal "naturally" which i find extremely hard to believe that he healed a split heart that fast. hopefully Gege taking 21 days off can rebreathe life into the series.

I would say my problem with JJK is that it changed from a character focused story to a plot focus story, in which the main goal was to get the plot moving along without giving the characters time to breath. I don’t think the story is bad but the pacing gets in my nerves sometimes especially with 208, 215(when the bath which was hyped up for a while was completed in a couple panels), and 222(one month time skip) 222especially grinds my gears because everything before would of been fine because the characters would finally have creating room for interactions but it was just skipped. Tbh I liked the writing in 236 and thought it was set up well when binging the fight. though I think it was a bit abrupt but it made sense so I didn’t really have a problem with it. The main problem is that we are in the last stretch of the series without much build up that could of been explored and perfected if we got to actually see the one month time skip

236 fully made sense, altough I get the frustration at the characters past shibuya not getting much room to breathe and settle. Only yuji got that room with the hakari fight, and then got more development with gege setting up the whole higuruma thing, and many more. To someone dumb it could see like yuji is weak and the ennemy is too strong and 236 made no sense but on a higher perspective it's the opposite in many aspects which can be somewhat of an issue. Yuji got a ton of evolution and proving his resolve and character and coming to terms with himself and reinforcing his motivations, and now he's reaching his final developments. Meanwhile People like maki's personality have become "Haha bloodthirsty" and all existing just to set up the character moment yuji will have with the final fight. I still like that a lot, but I want to see more of everyone else, I wish jjk was 20-30 more chapters long each furthering each character's backstory more, it'd be a massive leap in quality for a chapter extra here and there of flashbacks, a couple chapter showing a mission for maki or something, Yuta's arrival and training in africa etc.

Each person that's shown up to fight Sukuna has either dealt some heavy damage to him or worn him to down more and more while Yuji is gradually becoming more powerful during the fight. I think by the time Sukuna v. So explaining the afterthought Binding vow: Under normal circumstances, chants and hand signs are required but Sukuna couldn't do them because Gojo blew one of his hands off. So apparently he made an instant decision to make a Binding vow that made it so that he was able to use it without chants or hand signs ONCE. The condition was that from every use after, the slash has to be directed by his palm (effectively adding an extra movement and telegraphing the slash to others). It is a really shitty patchwork solution that ends up creating even more problems like "Why the fuck didn't Gojo make Binding Vows for the single most important fight? Or anyone else really.". This is a very common theme with Sukuna where he isn't even strong but the main cast just doesn't even utilize their power set at a basic level. Another example is "Why does Sukuna use Megumi's abilities WAY better than him?". This seems stupid given that he is on a different league than Megumi but are you saying in Shibuya instead of summoning Round Deer to heal, he just summoned Mahoraga straight up? "Oh he hadn't tamed the deer" why? How is taming the fucking deer harder than Nue or Orochi? Like half the Ten Shadows have been utilized by Sukuna rather than Potential man.

nope sukuna didn't need chants its stated that he need some type of hand sign that requires two hands that's why he made a binding vow to launch a world cutting dismantle at the price that all future world cutting attacks require the hand sign (so two handns) chants (scale of dragon recoil twin meteor) and finally point where the dismantle would be sent off. Plus it's stated that sukuna is a battle genuis capable of making binding vow on the fly where it's nowhere shown that people like gojo could make such binding vow's let alone do it at the end of a fight where he thought he had won.

It’s not that deep dude, TODO literally only has one of three things he could have said: Yuji is likely going to get executed after what went down, since he very much would have seen what happened with sukuna from afar, or at least be informed. my only issue is with pacing, I think the story was going in the right direction but it's just going too fast, there's no time for character development for the new introduced characters and the old ones have gone through major changes in the span of a few chapters without giving the readers time to process. Also the deaths, yeah they're a meme by now but they could have made a lot more sense if the distance between them wasn't so short. And to add more fuel to the fire the fight with Sukuna is becoming sillier the more it goes on, the good guys are getting continuous power-ups to counterbalance how strong Sukuna has been made and Sukuna keeps pulling more powers out of the hat like it's nothing. I think the plot is fairly good, it's just been executed poorly in this case.

Personally, I don't think JJK has gotten worse per say, but I undoubtedly believe it has changed, A LOT. Some things I find kinda interesting. Gege is taking this in a very unexpected direction. While readers probably don't want copy/paste stories, they still like being able to predict what will happen next or at least have the story move in a sensical direction based on their past experience with other manga or even jjk itself. Of course though, that has not been the case since the Culling Games. I'll admit, JJK has gotten HELLA memeable recently, for better or for worse, but I honestly don't mind. Each chapter is still just as interesting to me. Or maybe the story really has gotten worse, but I just never really noticed it because my interest for JJK hasn't waned at all. Hear me out though with this one: I think we might be projecting a bit. Not ourselves literally, but what we all want for the characters. After all, that's why all of these characters death took so many people by surprise and annoyed them. Most people, including myself, did not expect many of these deaths. It didn't make sense at first. Obviously, Gege has provided at least some reasoning behind them now, but it doesn't align with what most people predicted. This is why I don't really bother with theorizing much for JJK. I theorize plenty for other manga like One Piece or Black Clover, but JJK plot is moving in strange directions, and I just read it in the heat of the moment. I don't bother with thinking about what will happen next, but I still retain that excitement for the next chapter, minus the theorizing. For all I know, Sukuna's fuga attack will blow up Yuji. As long as JJK keeps me hooked each chapter, I will continue reading it. Maybe JJK actually has gotten worse, but right now I don't know nor do I care cause it DEFINITELY has not gotten boring. I'm hoping Sukuna's fuga attack doesn't burn everyone to a crisp, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Note that this is using Megumi's body, instead of Heian era which has much stronger body and most importantly multiple limb. Chapter 228 Gojo had a weird feeling because the only CT you can't use inside DE is your own innate tech, which means 10s should be usable, which is confirmed later in Ch. 229 because during 4 times domain clash he has been deliberately not using 10s instead secretly summon Mahoraga and tanked the UV instead of going for the kill. The infamous Chapter 236 confirmed this since his goal has always been to evolve his slash. You are, like many other gojo meatrider, just proved the reading comprehension curse meme. I'd say Gege properly explained the why of the fight even if it's a jumbled mess, but that's a lie. Reading JJK fight is substantially easier than reading some fight in HxH, especially when Kurapika in involved. Since the dark continent arc, hisoka vs chrollo is full of wall of text. I also think that the culling could have been either like 10chapters instead of how long it was to read especially weeks after weeks or be the same but at least with what i'd call a "logic" fight against sukuna, if the culling game was a pain but we got a climax were everyone fight sukuna at the same time maybe it could have been better for me because the only choice that i liked was to send yuta against kenjaku, after that im still wondering why they didnt just go on a 1vs20 against sukuna when he couldnt use his domain if someone read all of that let me know what do you think of this take because me and my friends group seems to be on the same page but i'd like to know if im the only one with those opinion

You know, in retrospective, I think Gege could have done something more with Jogo and his gang (Plus I don't have too many issues with Sukuna, he's not perfect but as an evil antagonist he is fine, but Kenjaku feels kinda...random)

The problem is that so many characters keep dying, and it leaves a lot of story threads unfinished. A character's potential death must be weighed, the potential stories that character would have had, vs the effect said death would have on the characters left behind. The problem? None of the deaths have actually MATTERED. We've seen a few scenes of Yuji angsting, but he got over it pretty quickly.

The binding vow thing can be explain by Sukuna's personality. Sukuna has no attachments. He does what ever he wants. Most characters won't want to permanently weaken their technique for one battle. Not Sukuna. He is petty enough to give up everything just for one fight.

Personally I don't read much manga I have only read JJK to present and all of Demon Slayer but I hate the weekly manga and even monthly I think some writers need to just release full volumes at a time and can release the first few chapters to keep interest going while the volume is being made

There's definitely valid criticisms in this video, but also there's definitely some lack of understanding Jujutsu Kaisen. I'm not going to spend my time addressing all of it, just some of Sukuna slander(/s) up to 6:00 mark. So... we already knew these things were possible, what I mean is extending the target of a Technique which in this case was Space for World Slash. Nanami was doing it to extend the target for Ratio:Collapse when fighting Mahito for the first time. Uro's Technique targets the world(Says sky, but the way it works is really just space manipulation) by default, so Techniques not named Limitless(Don't forget it needing Six Eyes to work either) already could affect space. The Binding Vow which gave Sukuna 1 "Free" World Slash didn't add chants and handsigns to the requirements, Enmaten Handsign was already a requirement to extend the target, Sukuna just increased the amount of requirements, possibly forever, to Enmaten handsign+chants+direct it with hands all of which wouldn't even be possible to replicate without his unique Heian Era form. Now, something a lot of people don't realize about Binding Vows is that they always look at things in a vacuum, just look at Hakari sacrificing his arm to have better reinforcement of his body in a situation where he would've lost the arm anyways, or Sukuna's Domain offering people a way out, but extending the range so much escape would be Impossible for most. Sukuna had 2 arms while in Megumi's body so him extending the requirements of World Slash to the point it'd have been completely unusable to him(Megumi's body) forever still fits into Binding Vows looking at things in a vacuum, they had no context of Heian Era body at the time. Gojo not going after 15 Fingers Sukuna makes sense and I'm sorry to tell you, Gojo isn't stomping in this fight. For starters, look at Jogo Vs 15 Finger Sukuna fight. Kenjaku told Jogo he estimated him at 9 Fingers worth of power yet Jogo still noted how overwhelmingly stronger Sukuna was despite not even having twice the Finger's Worth of Jogo's. This suggests that the Fingers aren't that viable metric to use when estimating Sukuna's power. ALSO, something that isn't talked about more, 15 Fingers Sukuna intercepted Gojo who was definitely going for the kill on Kenjaku and not only do people think that Gojo could've won that fight, but to do so easily? That's without even going into the fact that Gojo cares about Megumi, so spending a month to plan things in advance makes sense because Gojo's been completely out of the loop ever since Shibuya.

i get the binding vow stuff but it all comes to gather when you think about it for starters gojo mentions that it's crazy how sukuna can make on the fly changes to his domain (referring to when he switched to condition's thought a binding vow) meaning it's considered high level to do for the curses they may not even know what binding vows are to that existent and most characters out side of sukuna, kenjaku and maybe gojo so they don't know what they would have to sacrifice much less in yuki's case when she was trying to keep pressuring kenjaku that was her main goal and after that had 2-1 seconds to think and heal and he still got out

In an interview of 2021 Gege said that the story would be finished by the second half of 2023 since they were more than half done with the plot and the story. Idk if other are asking fo keep jjk going since its extremely succesfull or if he just didnt realize how much there was fo un-cover. I guess that he is still truing to end this quickly, since he is already late
