Juul tried to design a solution to a public health problem. It wound up creating another one.

Since the first patent in 1930, electronic cigarettes have taken many shapes. At first they mimicked the packaging and physicality of cigarettes, with a cylindrical shape and light-up tip. Then they trended toward boxier designs, with low nicotine levels and high amounts of vapor.
The Juul did things differently: it packed a high-nicotine, low vapor hit in a small, USB drive-shaped package, with a colorful range of flavors and a buttonless, intuitive design. It wasn't just a hot new e-cigarette - it was a hot new tech gadget. Now, middle schools and high schools across the US are nervous about how many kids are getting hooked on Juuls.

Doesn’t really matter who quits... someone will find a way to market legal drugs or substances. People will eventually forget about it or it will be so normal no one will talk about it unless of course there are major health risks. This is mostly my opinion so don’t take it word for word.

Nothing . And I mean nothing worked when I tried to quit smoking . I used to smoke a pack a day for 10 years. I tried other forms of vaping devices with regular eliquids. I never got the same feeling and i switched back to regular tobacco cigerattes. Then I tried JUUL. And everything changed. I was about to directly switch to JUUL without no withdrawals, anxiety or physical withdrawals. Although I understand why JUUL is made to look evil because they are attractive to kids. I believe JUUL is a life saver for young adults and adults who are in high risk of diseases related to smoking tobacco. Something tells me , that the tobacco industries are proactively trying to remove JUUL like vape products off the market simply because tobacco industry is finding out that their time is up. Another thing, when i quit smoking.. I realized it wasnt only the nicotine i WAS addicted to. it was other chemicals in it as well. JUUL should give options to their users for lowering their nicotine and weening off of the addiction. Only then will every adults and teens be able to beat the nicotine addiction totally. Another thing about nicotine salt is that it is different from nicotine..

I understand that many ppl rely on it to quit smoking cigarettes, but packing that much nicotine in vaporised liquid (which has been shown to damage the respiratory system as well due to its high temperature) is not healthy at all for non-smokers who pick it up thinking it's trendy, or just because their friends are doing it (peer pressure). If even Australia and the whole of Europe is against it, then everyone should really think twice about this issue. There must be a way to resolve this, perhaps with regulation and education. I sincerely hope there is a balance that can be achieved. Maybe making it as a type of medicine for smokers/addicts and thus only allow access of Juul to those who really need it, and not to those impressionable youth. That said, I know my suggestion has many flaws, considering how ppl will always find a way to cheat the system and also the fact that Juul would not be so willing to surrender itself in becoming a pharmaceutical product... Moreover, who can guarantee the prices of Juul won't be hiked up if it does enter the medicinal industry (cuz this is America we're talking about), which only encourages other companies to develop something similar to Juul and flood the market cheaply --> thus the cycle repeats itself with non-smokers continued to be harmed by it. This is definitely not an easy situation to be improved upon, but it must be acted on nonetheless.

It's nowhere near as bad as cigarettes. Nicotine alone hasn't been shown to cause cancer. It is a relatively harmless drug, very comparable to caffeine in its effects and health risks. The biggest worry is increase in risk of heart disease (in much the same way as caffeine) because it increases your heart rate. Vaping is without a doubt a huge improvement over smoking in terms of safety because it eliminates 100% of the tar and smoke (which are the parts of smoking cigarettes/tobacco products that have been shown to cause cancer).

I live in germany and used the juul to quit cigarettes. It's the only product that moves regular adult smokers "accidentally" to vaping. You need those 59mg of nicotine to mimic the hit of a cigarette, especially if you prefer a small device. Everytime i order pods i'm worried about the customs office and it's sad that we don't have any comparable device in the eu, due to the nicotine restrictions. I feel bad for those teenagers who get addicted by nicotine, but you can't move heavy and regular smokers to a less harmful habit with an unsexy none nicotine device. Right now, Juul uses the mechanics of big tobacco to beat them big time, and yes, banning ads and education on the topic is an option to protect teens. But as long as cigarettes are allowed, the device should be allowed too as an exit door for smokers.

This is why I always loved Germans. They think so rationally. I totally agree with you bro. As an ex smoker, none of the vape devices sub-ohm tank devices workerd. JUUL worked for me.. I think the federal government should contract JUUL and be used for smokers trying to quit. It is the best option for tobacco addicts to switch to vaping. Once you get into vaping. Weening off nicotine is not that hard. What majority do not understand is that real cigerattes have chemicals which makes it hard for smokers to quit. Nicotine salts is different from nicotine

I wasn't a heavy smoker, but didn't have an issue moving to vaping. It did, however, take me a while to find an appropriate mod/tank combo that gave enough of a hit to satisfy fully. The smaller ones meant I was almost constantly cheefing. The higher volt mods and bigger tanks (with bigger/higher volt coils) meant I could take a hit and be okay for a while. I don't think I want to try Juuling though. Sounds like it'd make me more addicted than I already am.

Those 50mg are equivalent to a whole packet of cigarettes, how much did you smoke before?
@maybe_alf
@maybe_alf 6 жыл бұрын
I smoked way to much, but to be honest, the amount of cigarettes you smoke on a daily basis doesn't really matter in this case. What Juul did different, was to provide an equivalent nicotine consumption per puff. Amount and absorption time are as high and as fast as in a regular cigarette. The most important thing for smokers who switch to vaping is the expectation that you'll have while you drag on the device - your addicted brain will monitor your system very carefully and most devices don't fit expectation because your nicotine level stays to low or absorption is not fast enough. This is a thing all smokers have in common whether they smoke 5 or 50 cigarettes per day. Because of this, I'll tell you in drags. I dragged about 300 times a day on a cigarette. (yes, that's 30 cigs, I feel shame right now). Switched to Juul and dragged about 300 times on it (1.5 pods, still shame). This was 4 months ago. right now i'm on 16mg nic salt refill with the same amount of drags, which means that my nicotine consumption dropped to a quarter of my initial consumption profile. So it worked as a bridge to vaping. The reduction of nicotine is an entirely different task but from what i learned it's absolutely possible. Vaping seems kind of "hackable" in comparison to smoking.

Why are people still justifing this? It is a very healthy alternative to smoking but they use advertisements (directed at teens) to make kids get addicted to nicotine. Getting kids addicted to drugs (even if they are mostly harmless) is right? How dafuq? Edit: I should have said *Juul's goal is to get kids addicted to nicotine* .
@ryanmacleod3969
@ryanmacleod3969 6 жыл бұрын
Thanos Compared to smoking cigarettes, using an e-cigarette is much healthier. That is if you are a smoker and are looking for a healthy alternative but most kids who use this didn't even smoke cigarettes. I said nicotine is "mostly" harmless but not that you should be ingesting it because it is more safe than cigarettes. Saying that nicotine is mostly harmless does not justify selling this product to children.

Kids aren’t as dumb as people give them credit. As a high schooler myself, I can tell you not one kid thinks they are nicotine free. I definitely knew a lot more kids freshman year that smoked and over the past 4 years, nobody is smoking cigarettes and the smell of burning tobacco is nowhere on campus. Personally, I’m glad kids are using juul rather than cigarettes as it is so much safer. Also I’ve yet to meet someone that actually has a nicotine addiction nowadays. Kids aren’t dying to hit juuls. It’s more of a social device than a need to get a nic fix. Juuls have been mainstream and widely recognized by kids for over 2 years now. The fact that adults are just now figuring this out and claiming a new health crisis is such a joke.

'I've yet to meet a person with a nicotine addiction nowadays' yet you also claim to be a high schooler, of course you don't know anyone. You're all teenagers. Nobody knows they have an addiction until they try to quit and they can't and most won't try until their mid thirties.

I'm glad I graduated High School before JUUL was invented, I have a feeling the bathrooms would have been intolerable otherwise. lol I don't remember ever seeing an e-cig in a class. Even in college, now that I think about it. The first time I regularly started seeing big, moded, vape pens was in 2017... My first long-term BF out of college vaped so much that it literally looked like a fog machine in our living room. PLUMES of fruity pebble scented juice. I'd never experienced anything like that before. Nobody in my family smoked or chewed.
