I don't get why some people are mad about the fact that she's being featured here. Obviously, since epoxy resin and glitter is available to anyone, more than one person in the world will be making or even selling these. I'm sure most people who watch this video are aware of that. They never said she revolutionized art by doing what she does, they never said she was so super special. They just chose her and her little business to showcase this type of crafting.

peanutbutterismyjam that's the only valid argument anyone brought up so far though. But a lot of the main design pieces like the stickers and frames are designs from other brands. Like Rilakkuma (the bear), Sanrio's Hello Kitty and Twin Stars and Pusheen. If she doesn't have a liscence to use them, she is basically making money off of other people's designs. I don't wanna put down her craft, she makes the charms by hand after all, but why does she decorate them with other people's designs and not her own?

@atinysoftbean16456 жыл бұрын
Macaroon Cat I already guessed that, but still she is in fact making money directly off of other people's designs. She not creating fan art/referencing it/converting it to another medium. She uses the brands literal drawn artworks as centerpieces of her designs and that's just not an ethical way of doing art in my opinion, especially with how largely she is selling this stuff. And that substracts a lot from her crafting's quality in my opinion. Just because something's legal doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.

... Kawaii is the Japanese word for cute. A lot of the pictures they showed after saying "What Kawaii is" were Lolita, harajuku, Mori, and a lot of other fashion subcultures which we can just classify as part of the Japanese avant garde trends. The wearers of these subcultures of fashion generally garner the reaction of "Kawaii!" or us English speakers saying "That's so cute!" Just so you all know, since apparently some people dont know how to google.

It's just plastic though... plastic which can't be recycled. I feel as crafters bringing things into this world we need to be responsible and think about where our creations end up. Eventually these charms will probably end up in landfill where they will never rot down even after thousands of years. That's why when I make I like to work with wood, clay, or natural fibres. I feel bad about making things that will be harmful one day.
@starryskies70026 жыл бұрын
PREACHHHHH this was along the lines of what I was thinking
@RuRaynor6 жыл бұрын
Macaroon Cat clay doesn't rot, that's why we have clay vessels in museums that are thousands of years old. If it breaks it can be crushed down into frit and incorporated into raw clay to make it stronger. Wood, if kept indoors and dry, does not rot either. It can crack if not oiled but can also last a long time. Eventually rotting is good, it means the object is naturally returning to earth. Also "you can't pass those things down", get real. Your dependents are not going to want little pieces of glittery junk
@aviientyr6 жыл бұрын
Macaroon Cat Why bother passing the junk you made in grade school to your future kids when your descendants can just go to the charm store and buy a professional one for like, $2. It's not about how harmful little pieces of resin are, and how many more things are more harmful. It's about how it could be less harmful, especially since charms are things many of us buy and is largely sold. If charms and many other things could be a little less harmful to our environment, it could cause a large impact in our very polluted planet. I personally think it's admirable for people to try and protect the Earth, as the Earth is pretty polluted with human trash. Also, I highly doubt ur descendants would want your old tvs, refrigerators, etc. As time passes, people invent better, more advanced version of the things we use today. Your TV is probably going to be sold at a garage sale or something xD Congrats if you actually read my ramblings.

Well Alexandra, in Japanese culture.. On google, this is the definition: (in the context of Japanese popular culture) cute. "she paints elephants that are extremely kawaii"

This stuff is actually insanely common. Its not too hard to create. Plus, theres TONS of charm makers out there that create these kinds of charms. Each with their own unique twist. I'd recommend looking around if your interested in charms like these!
