THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. On the flip side, the episode can be absolute garbage, but still an enjoyable watch. How likely would you be to put this episode on if you were in the mood to watch Ben 10?

I didn't watch it, but heard about it...and I don't *AT ALL* identify it as part of the canon...along with pretty much all of the stupid retcons: i.e. destroying the Ben/Julie couple relationship, turning a bunch of Ben's villains into absolute jokes (more than even UAF at some points, as at least UAF's writers *tried* to tell new stories with them in different ways: i.e. thinking outside the box), etcetera.

The way I see Ultimate Kevin is primarily anger, but it's not the same sort of anger as Kevin-11. He's not screaming and randomly violent, now it's a seething, focused anger. He's learned to channel his emotions but he can't get rid of it or moderate the intensity so he's channelling it towards the people who have made him angry and trying to hurt others as little as possible

That’s a very good take! We see as the arc goes on he gets more unstable as he has less grudges to chase after. Getting to the point where he’d pacing or straining not to attack others until his power addiction gets the better of him or he finds a twisted train of logic to justify it.

This scene was understanding of how Kevin can absorb matter without DNA. Kevin was like the Anti-hero who wanted revenge on the slave trader and saved the slaves who's been trapped down in there for mining. And the ending of where Ben saying we got to put him down makes me feel like No.. don't..! Kevin is still a good guy. I'm just glad Kevin was still alive after their fight...!

While I don't think we needed to hear this part of Kevin's backstory before he joined Ben and Gwen, it definitely should have come a bit earlier. At the very least in Alien Force, so that his heroic nature feels more natural.

I really like bens turn during this story arc. He know what Kevin's capable of, and especially when he starts hurting his friends he just feels like he can't let kevin do this again. And because he failed to stop aggregor and the almost devastating consequences he can't just let kevin do this. Its a really interesting character arc for Ben and I love it

I feel like Ben was kinda overreacting at the beggining, but maybe less so at the end. He really sounds like he feels bad about killing Kevin but thinks it's inevitable. Kevin's writing on the other hand is top quality! It has so many details and cool aspects that are written very good, and even that sudden descent into madness isn't that random. It just makes sense. All his writing feels very organic and believable. I liked both Kwarrel and Quince as well. Especialy Quince, maybe just because he had more screen time or maybe because of his honorable act at the end. Like dude willingly chose to stay in prison because he felt bad for what he did and wanted to make amends. Really shows how he reformed and is a good guy. Wish he returned. Kwarrel as well, but he is... You know... Kinda dead...

I honestly enjoyed the expansion on Kevin's backstory, but I am annoyed with Ben's willingness to kill Kevin after everything they've been through, and Gwen's bad sense of priority for just trying to save Kevin above the trouble and potential threat to everyone he poses. It's no wonder this episode begins a rift between Ben and Gwen that continues until the end of the season.

I always found it strange that goop could ooze through doors and cracks despite his gravity projector being too big to fit through them at times. And in some scenes his projector seems to completely dissapear and the reappear out of nowhere. While this is obviously just a writers oversight, my headcanon tells me that goop can somehow mentally control the size of his projector and somehow shrink it down to near microscopic levels to have it fit through tighter spaces or suit his needs. However, i actually like your explanation better, as it makes more sense. Would be cool if the creators confirmed this someday.

Like to think that Gwen's "turbo" spell is just a basic wind-based spell, but the power depends on the verbal intensity and how much energy she puts into it. For example, just whispering "turbo" with a light gesture would make a slight breeze, while shouting it while thrusting her hand forward makes a sort of wind tunnel or horizontal tornado.

Honestly really love the flashback and how good of an influence Kwarrel was on Kevin, acting as a father figure to someone he might see some of himself in. If I remember right, someone did ask what Kwarrel did to end up in jail and on the forum they didnt specify what but apparently it was BAD. So I like to think Kwarrel was some big time crime boss type who eventually got tired of that life and just wanted to retire to a more quiet life. Heck, if he'd lived we might of gotten to meet him alongside Kevin or see that Kevin goes to visit from time to time. Tragic that he died like he did, truly terrible for Kevin

This is one of my favorite episodes. The commentary is so strong and it really makes you think about how harsh environments can shape people into monsters. I like to think Ben and Gwen came back after this arc to help with cleanup and document the abuses, eventually filing a report with Plumber High Command and testifying against Morgg.

With the idea of kevin changing in and out of mutation, I'd assume that before he was able to morph in and out, but in this episode he's able to completely get rid of the mutation fully since we see the chunks fall off of him instead of going back inside

About Kevin having changed between his mutated an normal form, I think the explanation is that he was able to change at random but not at will. It wasn´t until he learned to control his emotions that he was able to control the changing.

I never thought Ben trying to kill Ultimate Kevin was out of character. Aside the fact that Ben lost it and tried to kill Ultimate Aggregor in Map of Infinity before Gwen stopped him and lost it and brutally attacked him in Perplexahedron too, but Ultimate Kevin was incredibly dangerous and unstable as he put someone in the hospital over a few dollars, endangered an entire Plumber base, tried to kill Alan after stealing his powers and brutalising him and all his friends and then attacking and hunting down Gwen to absorb her powers, which was an inevitability that Ben predicted in their fight. Added with how Ben had been dealing with loss after loss and wanted to take things more seriously, I can see why he resorted to attempting to kill Kevin.

Ben was willing to kill Aggregor in Map of Infinity and also lost control and tried to hurt him even after saving the Sentinel while fighting him in Perplexahedron. Plus Ben left Vilgax to die in an explosion in both Secrets and Final Battle.

I did feel sorry for poor Kevin when his friend Kwarrel died. Quince was a good voice of reason as well. They should have been psychiatrists, if the former survived. Funny how Kevin ate rocks on his lunch break. I’m surprised it didn’t poison his insides, but I guess Upchuck’s DNA prevents him from getting poisoned.

My biggest problem with the Ultimate Kevin arc is that Ben just feels too callous all throughout even when the story tries to treat him like he's in the right to feel the way he does. From the very start of the episode he's insistent that Kevin selfishly betrayed them when really he did the only thing he could in order to stop Aggregor from gaining ultimate power and doing who-knows-what to the universe. I could understand if gradually over time they tried to reach out to him and kept failing, leading Ben to feel there's no other way, but as is it feels more like Ben wants to kill him out of sadism and not necessity, all because his past self convinced him to mutate again to solve a problem that his present self couldn't.

I think it is better that we waited to hear Kevin’s story. That way we could have a time where the story is truly about Kevin. I don’t think it would’ve fit outside of a truly dedicated Kevin story

Everything we get from Kevin during UAF for the most part is like 10/10 type shit. Honestly a shame how Omniverse handled the character and brought in all the Rooters backstory bullshit. While some of it was enjoyable, it just didn’t fall very well for me. Out of the main Trio during Omniverse, Gwen is probably my most enjoyed and accurate version of these characters. Even with the limited amount of screen time she gets. But I will say her design is very lackluster. Much preferred her UAF design/outfits.

Although I like seeing Kevin back story I still think it would have been better if we got it sooner maybe with a single episode in alien force with Kevin explaining his personal experience in the null void, explaining why he's change, so the transition of him being a good guy could be smoother.

To that extant should not have been able to drain ultimate Greg completely?? That wasn't a can of worms I expected to open. Anyway, he still also has an extra one tenth from the ultimatrix, plus all the other aliens, so still wild ben could hold him

This is an episode I think they needed for a while: finally closing the gap between original series and UAF Kevin. Finally getting those answers was pretty satisfying and makes the transition a lot easier to swallow. Until Omniverse retconned most of it but that's another story.

Kevin's time in the null void is a story arc I always appreciate. Ben 10 especially alien force does a job crafting and introducing development in its characters. (Even if it sometimes gets inconsistent and introduces new flaws as a result). Love this episode as well as Kwarrell too for helping Kevin to overcome his mutation and returned to normal. As for backstory should be explained, I personally think I would like to see the origin first or at least shown during the Alien Force, then we get the idea to understand and know that he is changing for better. But then again, the writers would start writing character's personality and development before working on the origin, kinda like Star Wars. Darth Vader was written as main bad guy for Original Trilogy before writing his origin in Prequel Trilogy of why he did. I can't say of why and how Kevin able to get his own clothes back on, much like Delvin from OS. But possibly possessed some kind of unique ability to summon his clothes to put on. (Not!)

14:51 The flashback in this episode was not the first time Kevin managed to revert from Kevin 11 to his old self. But he became stuck in the form again due to lack of experience. This explains why Kevin was wearing jeans instead of brown shorts during the flashback. Someone asked Dwayne McDuffie: When kid Kevin changed back, why did his old clothes came back, too? When he turned Kevin 11 in the original serie, almost all of his clothes were destroyed. Dwayne answered: So he wouldn't be naked. Also, those weren't his old clothes, and that wasn't the first time he changed back.

This flashback gives a new perspective to his actions and turns moments of suspicious activity from making us feel suspicious, to more likely us feeling sympathetic if it looks like he’s falling back into bad habits since we’d know how far he’s had to go Personally, I’d like to have known this before so we could see a softer side of Kevin a lot sooner and recognize when those moments flash up, but I have no real problem with how things went

I remember as a kid constantly wondering how the hell did Kevin become human again ever since Alien Force where did he's new absorbing powers come from. This episode was a godsend to young me and in hindsight I'm glad they waited to reveal this and didn't feel the need to rush things since you can argue this isn't immediately important and we arguably got a better story then if they tried to reveal it as soon as possible.
