ChatGPT should be viewed no differently than a calculator, which, in my youth, was criticized as something that would negatively impact math skills. While this may have happened to some extent, the other reality is that it has also become a huge tool for advancing learning and productivity.

if funny when people cant figure out a 20% tip on their food service without a calculator yet the SERVER did the math in their HEAD.......... still losing .....

Thinking back to my time at high school, if we had something like Khanmigo in place, but I knew the teachers could see what I was askinh, there would be questions I would ask because I wouldn't want certain teachers being able to see and then questioning 'Why's he asking that?' Sometimes, kids just want to ask questions to find out more and understand something better for any numbers of reasons, including that they have a different way of learning that isn't how teachers do things. Also, kids need to vent at times. It's not that they're suicidial or looknig ot harm someone. They just need to vent BECAUSE THEY'RE KIDS and don't have full control of their emotions at a time when the chemicals in their bodies are haywire. That was certainly true when I was a teenager anyway. Kids also need to know that they can vent without it being turned into a big drama by the person (a teacher) that a kid might want to vent about too.

Search engines and other tools are still available. They don’t have to use this tool for everything.

I can see why you have little faith in EDUCATION as your proclamation to the world could have been worded differently and have a more profound impact. FYI... this is what happens when you vote for BLUE...

Khan Academy is great! I was 49 and thinking about going to college, but was worried about the math. Khan had a few free programs that helped me prep and gave me confidence to enroll in college. I got my associate's in science degree in May!

We really need this to adapt for special education. Would love to have a discussion with Mr Khan including some experts. I am a parent and educator.

That’s a very clever way to use AI!

Sal's voice is exactly the same as in all of his videos. It's weird to see a face attached to that voice lol.

This is a fantastic and useful tool. In Germany, we do not have these things. My son is gifted, and at age six, he did the Mathematics of an eighth-grade class. Now he is seven, and his level is above the twelfth grade, which is very impressive. Actualy We don't know how far his level is because in Germany we don't have educated Teachers, and the Atmosphere of Education is very Toxic for Forigners & that is why my son does not have the opportunity to learn in a better environment. It is very unfortunate for children like him. 😢

I think that teachers, + parents learn together (to an extent) with the students. Parents that help their children with homework, etc., may form deeper bonds; or, maybe not! Yeah, it's all private info, until Khanmigo goes up for sale, just like 23&Me!

what's the point of learning these low level subjects in high school when AI can do it flawlessly? (I'm talking about required classes, students taking these classes for fun is fine).

Because you still need to understand what is going on in a generated response. Same reason computer programmers haven't been replaced, you need to have a fundamental understanding of what a "good response" looks like in order to actually produce an overall end result/goal.

Have you seen the video? The teachers are still there and oversee the students work. AI can’t give you hugs and warmth. It can act as a tutor, but parents have been hiring tutors for centuries.

math and science must be studied in a new creative way.. we must study and make something useful and study to benifit in short times not after secondary school or university. I must study something I can recognise not the all information and theories have been discovered since thousands of years!! Which brain will bear all that!!
