Which director’s style would you love to see broken down like this? Any particular scene or film that’s stuck with you?

Spielberg has amazing blocking and staging (but he learned it all from Kurosawa!)

High and Low is a great example of timeless filmmaking and a masterclass on interesting storytelling. What's even better about the movie is that one never notices these nuances while watching the movie and are completely engaged in what is transpiring. What a brilliant puppet master he was.. One of my favourite Kurosawa movies...

I agree! It's my favorite Kurosawa as well 👍 Although there's many others to choose from! His career was so extensive and varied. Throne of Blood is another favorite of mine.

Interestingly, Spike Lee is remaking it and it's set to release as his next film. I wonder how he'll approach the blocking and will he make it as well as Kurosawa?

I love your way of pointing out the composition with colors and lines. It’s really helpful - I’ve studied this movie before, but the efficiency and clarity of your presentation really made me love the movie more.

Where did you find the behind the scenes material?? I would really love to look at it!
@jarypomponi7035Ай бұрын
Very nice analysis. I just want to add that, in my opinion, the movie is clearly divided into three acts: Paradise, Purgatory, and Hell; everything in each act change to reflect this intention, as pointed out by Donald Richie. PS the English translation, and many others, for this movie is a crime...

I don't know if you will read this comment or not, but I want to write it anyway, many of your videos may not get the attention they deserve, but please don't let this discourage you, because your videos really share a good feeling, even if it's just for one person.
@JustOneMoreThing_YTАй бұрын
That's very kind, thank you! I really enjoy making these and I always focus on improving little by little, so even if some videos get less attention I'm grateful that so many people care about them. Especially, when I get encouraging messages like yours, so I really appreciate it. There are a lot of things I'm learning with KZbin, and it's not always easy to balance with other things, but I'm still as motivated as before :)

Cinefix did a great video on the topic, but this one dives into different scenes and aspects, also High and Low's blocking and visual storytelling is a very common topic among cinephiles and researchers.
