For anyone looking at this video and thinking you are going to copy his chain, you must understand something fundamental when it comes to vocal mixing; This vocal chain was created around his own unique voice, it sounded the way it did not because of the settings alone but because of the synergy between those settings and his voice. It’s usually recommended to avoid vocal presets (like the ones you can buy online) because a real mix should be centered around what works with your voice, not someone else’s.

Yup. And that's why I tried to tailor fit this chain in such a way that it sound good to my voice as opposed to completely copying it ;) The Multiband Compressior settings change my life tho.. I always used to wonder how to get that tight low-end without eqing the life outta my vocals making em thin af. Well, now I know and it made my day XD

@@TribecaBlackstarr I mean, if you look at it like that, no mix in this world is 'too crazy.' Everyone uses basic stuff like subtractive and additive EQ, compression, saturation, reverb, delay, etc. However, how you use these effects makes your mix unique, and Peep broke all the rules when it came to treating vocals. There wasn't any analog gear, expensive mic or preamp, or costly third-party plugins. Though, listening to Peep, you might be tempted to think, 'Oh, his vocal chain must be complex as f--k.' But no, it's just a few plugins used very strategically and entirely in-the-box mixing that gave Peep his legendary sound. That's what makes this CRAZY." ⛈ ⭐

to anyone confused/doubtful abt the boosting he did on low end, yes typically you want to cut low end out of vocals but today i tried recording a 6 take vocal layer using this chain as reference, it is very dependent on you’re voice e.g if you’re singing voice is low and deep like peeps this can work but if you’re vocal dynamics sit mainly in the mid high end this preset will most likely not be as effective, as well with the right master on the beat (room in the sub) and side chain compressing the vocals with the beat this vocal chain can be very effective, like others have said it’s voice dependent and i would encourage anyone who admires peeps vocal sound to take inspiration from his vocal chain and make it they’re own thinking about what kind of voice you have and what kind of beats you are putting vocals over ps i’m not a professional this is just my experience experimenting myself with what i learnt/took away seeing his process
