2 assists and a goal on his first Premier League start for Liverpool's Conor Bradley, and the young right-back has officially "exploded onto the scene". But why was, what should have been a really tough test for him, so incredibly easy? Well, the answer is.. Chelsea. FourFourTwo's Adam Clery explains.

The kid is incredible, he's not just adaptable, it's like when he's in defence he's an exceptional defender, and when he's attacking he's a nailed on winger, wherever he is on the pitch it's like he's always in his favoured position, it's like he's cropped up out of nowhere to try and give Klopp second thoughts about leaving!

Trent got changed into inverted due to the space he was leaving when making "flying full back" runs, and also he would have less 1 on 1s against wingers out wide, People forget Trent used to be known for his crossing but after going into inverted role he gets to show his passing range but is less creative. Trent used to play how Bradley was playing and was way more impactivd creatively but was worse when tracking back than Bradley. Bradley is just quicker and more determined so he can play more like Robertson.
@MauFilm7
@MauFilm7 3 ай бұрын
It's all about willingness. As long as Trent is willing, he can and he is in fact a capable hard-to-beat defender. Only after he became a nonchalant and casual RB defensively and only interested in attacking, he became what he is now. He's having the Superstar Complacency Complex. That's why it's better to move him to Mid where several teammates can cover him rather than leave him be a practice cone on the right side. After he came in, at least a couple of times opponents dribble past him in our box as if he wasn't there. And he seems couldn't be bothered either, you know, like Superstars always do.

some context on joe gomez inverting, past few games with him and bradley as fullbacks, gomez has inverted in the buildup (presumably as he was a pressing trigger at left back) and jones has often been out there instead being more comfortable on the ball out wide on that side, then middle third gomez has been a third centre back while bradley has joined the attacking line, holding width and freeing jota to act as a second striker, and when we enter the final third gomez has inverted again for numerical superiority in the counterpress, him being bored is the much more entertaining answer tho

This is a great channel, very happy i've come across it. There's a Barry Glendenning-esque trend across a lot of football coverage where any analysis that goes beyond the usual TalkSport phone-ins, have to be packaged in a cynical, bored-of-it-all, approach to the game. Glad to find someone who can talk in an insightful way AND is actually enthusiastic about the game. Back to Liverpool, considering who's left over the last couple of seasons and the low expectations at the beginning of the season, I think this current Squad, is hands-down the best squad Jurgen Klopp has ever had. I genuinely don't think I would swap it for the Premier League winners or quadruple contenders. Breaks my heart that Klopp isn't going to be taking them any further than this season.

Bradley was awesome. Jota next best - such a threat. Great to see Gomes versatility getting recognised. CFC fans looking at poor ref decisions - need to realise they were outplayed all over the field. I thought the Pen decisions were correct - if given, they would have been very soft. Ref were meant to be stopping jumping on the floor players. A touch is not a foul. Gallagher should have stayed on his feet. No way VVD hitting the standing heal of Nkunku cause both feet to leave the ground and him to fall. Nunez hit the woodwork 4 times - we well deserved the win. Score reflects the game.

It was interesting what klopp said about mc allister a few games back. That "he is so good in closed spaces". The more you can condense the field around macca the better he becomes. This is one of the main reasons gomez is drifting inside to midfield, to tighten the space. The small pitch at anfield.helps.of course. But we have seen a few times macca get lost as a 6 in wide open midfield....hopefully this doesn't happen at the emirates this weekend!

i think a lot of it was down to his fitness, especially when a young kid comes in u expect them to be slightly less fit than the average premier league player so you’d assume they’d do their defensive job and then get their rest. Bradley probably shocked chillwell with his fitness and sterling aswell cus they wouldn’t expect him to sprint back then turn around and sprint forward so he got a lot of time and space down the right.

And as a Reds fan, love seeing Bradley and Baj and Jarrell and all the youngsters come through and succeed. Also note you said “how’d they get him from the academy” they signed him! They signed him four years ago from Sunderland, another indicator of the importance of top to bottom quality on the staff side. Whatever youth staff signed Bradley saw that he could and would match Jurgen’s system perfectly and they were exactly right. It kind of makes him a throwback to an older Liverpool but also means he just add the stylistic versatility we now have which is perfect.

That traditional 4-3-3 with the one CDM is the classic Liverpool formation that won us so much in recent years so I'd love to see us go back to that. It works, with the right players. But I don't see Trent being the CDM. He wouldn't hold that position well and provide cover for the defense, he'd want to get forward. I still think Endo, when he's back, is better there. So where does Trent go if he's not RB or CDM? Because one of McAllister or Szoboszlai would have to be benched, and that's a tough call.

Excellent analysis. I would disagree, though, that Bradley has just dropped in by some stroke of luck. His entire academy experience has been playing the 'Klopp way'. Same with Jarel Quansah and others. Much easier to hit the ground running when you've played the same system for years at youth level. The awareness and the run for his goal highlights this point. Great to see these lads taking their oppotunities in the team.

By fouling the player who would be able to defend that space?

Is nobody going to talk about Jota clearly pushing down Chilwell as he’s trying to get to Bradley?

I love Bradley but like wth was Chelsea doing. Every run I'm seeing looks like their LB has gotten a red card and no one is there to cover the space. Its so impressive that Bradley at 20 years old realizing that and capitalizing on the mistakes is phenomenal but imagine Salah with all that space
