This is just my personal theory: 1. Bats can travel for long distances, so they're a better host for bacteria/viruses to spread. 2. They're mammals, so viruses don't have to mutate too much to infect other mammals. 3. They mostly come out at night, so they're less likely to be k*lled by bigger predators. A couple of years ago, I was on an infectious disease KZbin binge, and I noticed that a lot of the most deadly bacteria/viruses were primarily spread by bats and rats. Ebola, rabies, hantavirus, Marburg, etc.
