lol I think sometimes it asks just random out of the blue questions to kinda calibrate any extra knowledge on the character. But it is quite funny "whats happened on Empired SMP to make this question appear?"

​@@nikopotry Though it does, in fact, know what questions have been answered already, and uses that data to lay out a sort of 'tree' or map of what people apply, and then scan for questions to cut that group down. So as an example, if it knows from a previous question that the person is from hermitcraft, then it identifies that with the group of all hermits, and tries to find questions that will either single out one specific hermit, or split the group into two smaller ones, until it's ready to guess. Sure, you could argue that it doesn't really 'think', and that it certainly isn't consious - but Akinator does know what questions have been answered, and which it should ask to most effectively find one answer (hint: that's why it works at all). Not because it 'knows' what the words mean in themselves, but because it can pair given data with possible answers.

@@nikopotry Akinator isn't AI, just has a pretty extensive database. I've made a similar project like this for university (though it was a "guess the animal" thing rather than for characters) - it basically has a list of answers and questions related to the answer. Each question should eliminate around half the possible answers until it gets to the answer - think of it like a graph, really. There might be a bit more to Akinator's algorithm (it probably saves how many times a question was answered yes and no, for example), especially since it relies on human input to create the questions in the first place and there's a lot of deliberate data poisoning in there, but AI wasn't even really developed that much when Akinator first came out! While AI technically is also just a really complex algorithm, Akinator isn't AI! Just a semi-simple algorithm that mathematically works out to provide an easy answer.

With the "Is tango associated with fire" question, it's common in Tango's fandom for his Minecraft Charcater to be drawn with fire hair (even though his skin has blonde or blue hair). I have no idea if Akinator knows about the fan art, or if that was a random question lol Also, it only took 14 questions for Akonator to guess you when I played!

As a software dev, I can explain what my understanding is about the logic behind the questions. I didn't make Akinator, this is just an educated guess 1) A lot of stuff is crowdsourced by the users, including questions and guessed subjects, which can be added at the end if Akinator didn't guess your character: - In terms of questions, that means sometimes users add a question that already is in the system, maybe worded a bit differently, but that's how you get duplicates. - It also means there's no correlation between individual questions. Just because it asks about subscribers doesn't automatically mean it knows it about a KZbinr. And in some cases, it might even be correct not to assume the question has been answered (case in point: does your character have blue hair? yes. does your character have red hair? yes. yellow? yes... is your character a pony? yes. Rainbow Dash) 2) As for the random questions, the way I see it is Akinator being programmed to learn more about the subject. It could seem to laser focus on the right questions, as if it knew the character already and then pivot and decide to throw in a random question, maybe one that was not answered a lot for that character. Answering it gives Akinator more information. This too can be seen as a form of crowdsourcing.

I once tried to use Akinator to guess Grian but I failed. It's my first time trying and I was so confused because the genie can't guess him. He tried to guess it 3 times with other youtubers/people but he failed. In the end he gave up and he told me to put the person he was trying to guess. Since he know whom did he lose to, I tried to guess Grian again and he win this time with less question. It was really funny how long the questioning take and how he gave up in the end. Tried it with other youtubers/animals/things but he only failed at guessing Grian.
