This is a really complicated topic. Tbh I don’t really care as long as I can continually progress. Love the video.

Good points. I think progress also depends on our physical shape, centre of mass and levers

Oh 100%. Strength to weight ratio AND weight distribution is super important 💪🏿

you have great insight, andrew. i've been making progress in my handstand journey since i made a concerted effort to prioritize them in my training. i've been working on my l sit, but that is lagging because i really dislike training them, therefore my training them becomes infrequent and haphazard; and, also not very result producing.

Thanks Bruce! And yeah, building up that discipline can be so hard. Just need to focus on that end goal. Something that has always helped me is thinking that the areas where I am weakest means that it is also the area with the biggest opportunity for gains 💪🏿

It also depends in which order you learn the skills. L sit could be a mobility problem. The worst problem with learning the skills is that we spend so many months training the skill with wrong progressions and form. Even the slight error can make you progress 3x slower i swear. Ofc our weight and height/strength ratio matters a lot but sometimes even heavier people progress faster than lighter ones. Skills are really a good mind game!

My brother can straddle planche, but shakes like a mad man when he does an L-sit (which I find super easy). Make it make sense!!!

The comments at 00:11 must have been written by somebody who has done calisthenics for all of 5 mins and doesn't know how hard it is to do these things

I can understand why they are confused though. But yeah... Clearly don't know how difficult bodyweight training can be!

This video is actually really deep. I have seen people learn skills in weeks that I have spent years learning and it can make you ask 'what's wrong with me' 🥹
