Go and pay for another full instanced small group based mmo, with limited and repetitive content made by a known AAA company. Do you realize how lucky we are to have an actual MMO veteran player who is also a millionaire running this project? I'd rather pay 5 times more to help a growing company that is willing to deliver a unique, ambitious, polished and non P2W product, where I can also see their progress, than playing another cash grab and repetitive f2p korean mmo.

Excellent video! There's a really good book by one of the original wow developers called The wow diary. The writer explains that his intent was to try and place the reader in the development room while they were making decisions and producing the original game.(Vanilla Wow). At one point in the book I recall him explaining that a lot of the things that the players think would be fundamental in the game like their favourite zones or mobs, items and quests didn't come until very late in developing soon before launch. Most of the development time was standing up the systems, assets, tools so that later in development the world and quest designers could fire through the world and add in content, and build combat when it was all put together. For these reasons I'm not so concerned about not seeing or the possibility of all of these zones not being anywhere near completion. After the meat and potatoes of the game development are finished, combat, level and world design will be streamlined and will not take nearly as long these early messy stages.

I dont think Alpha 2 is meant for finding and fixing bugs and polishing. I think thats beta. I think Alphas are more for testing core systems and designs of the game as they come out.

i think that 5 years is huge overestimation. To justify such a long time without constant revenue from players you need to believe that your game will be near the top of the market for a long time and who know if after 5 year you don't already have other interesting project with ue6 , actual news from riot mmo, revamp of wow and whathever else. Even if it still need a tuch of polish i don't see the game not being fully open latest in 2017. And that's not considering the fact that if it was to be that long preorder packs would have likely include in their pricing something like 3year alpha access minimum- 90$ resulting in bigger price differences between items that include alpha testing and the one that include only beta testing. somewhere in 2016 is more likely, end of 2015 is already a possibility

Yeah AoC 2027 ! That's my call (and always has been) 5years of Alpha testing seems too long. Once systems are in place and they get the hang of node and biome creation it will become a lot easier to do. Plus we might see Unreal 6 and it may make things easier as well. It will become so much easier with completed systems and repetitive content (From a coding aspect) that I believe a future expansion could very well be an entire new continent. With Two more playable races (Lizardmen & a Furry?) AND perhaps 4 more playable Arche Types (A second Healer Main, A second Tank Main and two more DPS) For 144 Classes or 12 for us that don't subscribe to Steven's "Labeling". This might be Copium, but the map does not scroll West to East when sailing... it's not that the world is flat, it's that the world isn't done yet ;)

My bet is it will be a relatively short alpha followed by a 5+ year long beta as they try and draw out the scam as long as possible similar to star citizen who really set the bar for this kind of scam and showed it to be successful with a minimal amount of effort being demonstrated periodically

I agree with most everything you said but I'll stay closer to 2 years. Really my gauge will be how soon and how often they reopen alpha packs. If money is coming in I thnk they're more likely to take longer. I do think once Alpha 2 settles in they are going to start pumping out content like crazy. I don't think they want to setup commission, events, side quests, story arcs etc in other zones yet, till they test it on a large scale anyway. Once they are happy with it, they'll go full blown content development. I'm sure a lot of it is laid out and outlined as well, just not implemented. I'm also fine with a Riverlands primary release. Assuming they test it and once ok with it's performance they expand in a update or two.

No. It will be live in around a year from Alpha2 depending on how well Alpha 2 goes. Alpha2 implies that the base functionality is 100% in place, so what's left is mostly going to be configuration, story and art. So let's say that a raid boss has the ability to have many phases and many abilities as configured. The plan is to give raid bosses 15 random/triggered different configurations and up to 5 phases. I don't have to get them all ready and designed for Alpha 2. I just have to configure 1 raid boss with 3 phases, and 5 ability profiles each, to make sure multi phases and abilities work. Going in and configuring the other X00 Raid bosses with their phases, abilities and even their model art when you have a working template, is not near as hard as doing the first one. Quite frankly, it is the fun part of the project, and this example holds for classes, normal mobs and mob AI, nodes, the world map, crafting and so on. You generally see a project content completion rate as an exponential curve, upwards, through the project. It doesn't get slower. If everything goes perfectly, we could be playing the game by this time next year, but life rarely goes perfectly, so I will say the target is Fall 2025, with enough time to generate hype after release, for lots of people to get Ashes of Creation as their Christmas present. That would also allow Intrepid to put out a fix and content patch in Early December, and give most of their Development staff a long, hopefully well-deserved Christmas break That would create a good transition from Development to Support. I was a IT product/project manager for 25 years and that is the Ideal way I would do it anyway, and Intrepid seem to be doing things "By the book" at the moment. I don't see any reason for them to change now, or any reason to believe the whole thing is a scam. The length of time it has taken to get to Alpha2, I take to be an indication that they haven't left stuff out of Alpha2, that should have been in it, meaning they are going to be faster after Alpha2. Having said all that, I could still be wrong. I am as fallible as everyone else.

All the troll accounts are 11 and 12 years old 😂 but I am think 2-3 because I’m in the camp that they launch the game not kick starter complete. They will deliver all that stuff in free updates on the first year of launch. That way they have updates without having a goofy 12 month content drought or something. A2 is going to be used to find an accessible game loop and content it can launch with. 🤣 or at least that would be the smart way to do it.

Scam game :( it is not near for a close line at all and you need to pay $250 to test their incomplete alpha game, and it is already +9 years and as thy mentioned, thy spent +$80m budget already with 150 team size developer team... Most of the kickstart roadmap contents are not applied to game too... When is Alpha 2? when is Closed Beta? when is Open Beta? when is Early Access? when is real release of the game?

The rubber hits the road with the actual dev team filtering out what is worth developing at this stage. If the dev team is good they can make a good game. If not the game will suck.

uhm... why r u here xd? U dont "need" to pay anything, you CAN support the vision if u want. Kickstarter was 2017 I believe, so 7 years... but SO close! I dont think they spent all their budget yet, else they would have asked for more, but instead stopped selling access keys, so they clearly got a cushin. Well idk what u mean by "most contents arent applied", but firstly the game is not out yet so what would it be applied to, and secondly I believe the core pillars such as Nodes, Caravans, housing etc have been showcased... so not sure what ur talking about ? Alpha 2 is in Q3 this year, closed Beta is gonna be sometimes after that... would make sense at least. Same for Open Beta and EA. Makes sense no ?:) As for the real release of the game... im not an expert but i imagine sometimes after beforementioned Alphas and Betas... :D. Always baffles me how ppl like u go into spaces that they detest, and then spew non-facts about like they are knowledgeable. first, thanks so much for commenting on the video and supporting the channel. you don't "Need" to pay, cause no one "Needs" to play-test an ALPHA game. Scam games don't say things like, "We don't need your money" or "Watch and wait" Tbh, Intrepid didn't have much of a staff at the "start" of your timeline. If Steven is the only person working on the game, has production really started? Alpha 2 is in September of this year (IMO, and it will last a couple years) Beta Testing in 2026 I'd think, and full Release in 2027. Early Access would be literally that, a finished game with access a few days early. lastly, it seems to me you're as excited for the game as many of us and can't wait. patience, Intrepid will take its' time and do it right, unlike New World or other MMOs you'll have to sooth your desire for this game by watching all the great A2 content soon.
