Hi, Matt. I like your cover better than any other version, even the original song writer, Mike Scott (Waterboys). My beloved died at the beginning of Covid 😢and as odd as it may sound to others, he stays in touch by sending me songs. Often,( like this one) they are ones I've never heard. @@mattjohnsonmusic I didn't say I didn't enjoy it, merely that when covering a song credit should go to the artist who put in the work crafting the lyrics and music, not someone who produced a copy... eg, will future versions be covers of 'How Long Will I Love You - Matt Johnson' or still the original artist? If someone copies the Mona Lisa, do we no longer credit Leonardo da Vinci, or do we still revere the original? Imagine if you wrote a song and had some success, then a pop star had a hit with it and forever it was referred to in videos as 'their song' with your, far greater, contribution effectively erased!

Ellie Goulding’s cover’s style seems pretty different to the waterboys’ original. Although it does make sense to credit the original, it may be easier for people to look for the cover of a certain version. Maybe they could do Ellie goulding/waterboys lol
