I don't think there is any way to prevent Canada from entering a recession. I think the Bank of Canada will just end up tanking the Canadian dollar if they do any significant rate cuts (some would argue that they have already done this). Unless the Americans cut deeply of course.

Hi Thanks for the content. Your recommendation for August 2026 mortgage renewal, what do you forecast the rate to be for fixed, variable and what term to lock in. Thanks in advance!

BoC has done two emergency cuts in a row. They only do that in major recessions. That means, more rate cuts will be coming for the next 1-2yrs. They've done the same thing in all recessions. If you were smart you'd check the historical data and see for yourself.

Read the economic room bud, these rate cuts would lead Canada to a depression.

Canadian rates are joined at the hip with US Fed rates. At this time, Canadian dollar is tanking cause of 50 points difference with US. If Canada increases this difference more, rest assured Canadian dollar will be in the sewer. So all his predications are biased towards pumping his business fit for dustbin.

This lowering of interest rates is a temporary retraction from the first wave on interest rate hikes. The second wave will probably be underway later this year, and has history has shown the second wave is much more severe. So the question is how high will they go as we move forward ?
@bronzeanzac132214 күн бұрын
I like higher interest rates.

I do too. Money doesnt have to be allocated to riskier assets to outrun the hurdle rate.
