How Jharkhand is economically backward despite having rich mineral resources like coal, iron, uranium etc Jharkhand is rich in mineral resources such as coal (27.3% of India’s reserves), iron ore (26% of India’s reserves), copper ore (18.5% of India’s reserves), uranium, mica, bauxite, granite, limestone, silver, graphite, magnetite and dolomite. Jharkhand is the only state in India to produce coking coal, uranium, and pyrite. With 25.7% of the total iron ore (hematite) reserves, Jharkhand ranks second among the states.

That is because of less Amount of industries You can take out the minerals but your state cannot polish it and Give value to it so Jharkhand is just selling the Minerals to other states and these states then add value to it and sell it globally It's like a farmer sells his crops to a middle man at 9rs and that man sells the same crops after washing them and keeping them clean and tidy at a cost of 20-25rs
