I honestly think he had CTE. He was a warrior who fought giants and was constantly making problems for himself that most people in hindsight would realize were bad ideas. Like sparring the lives of certain enemies, trusting certain liars, making bad decisions like pairing enemies off with each other, and some of his health issues brought up match with the behaviors of modern day athletes who suffer from CTE. It only takes a few blows to the head to mess up your thinking.
