@C0GST0R1352 ай бұрын
@@Rohannn0007 Magnus lost the title to nobody. He simply got bored with it because nobody can give him a challenge, literally no mind games or any mental gymnastics involved in that other than his competition are just not good enough to make it fun. It is another level of coping to say that Magnus lost "mentally" because he refused to defend the title for 5 more decades. Ding winning the World Champion title means as much as him winning a glorified candidates tournament. As long as Magnus is still around and dominating the chess scene, the "World Champion" title means nothing more than a second place award.

This reminds me of when Magnus took out Fabiano in the SCC without losing a single game. When Magnus shows up rested, motivated, and on form he is so far ahead that it's almost scary to watch. Like these guys are historic players in their own right: Alireza is the youngest 2800 in history, and youngest player ever to have multiple candidates appearances, and Fabiano has the highest single tournament rating performance ever and is one of 3 players to reach 2850 in history! (The two others being freakin Kasparov and Carlsen). Like we're talking generational talents and yet when they run into Magnus at his best they're just completely and utterly helpless. It's honestly a privilege to get to watch greatness like this. It feels similar to how it was watching Usain Bolt, you could just sit back and know you were watching history unfold and know that you get to tell your grandkids that you saw true greatness live in your time!

Not to disparage either Magnus or Fabiano, but isn’t it common knowledge that Caruana is a bit weaker in faster time controls compared to classical?
@noone-ld7pt20 күн бұрын
@@danjor5749 I think that is quite outdated. He is nr 3 in Rapid and nr 6 in Blitz and has been top 10 for years, it was one of those narratives that since he repeatedly lost to Magnus and Hikaru people started saying he was bad even though he would beat almost anyone else.

Massive respect to Alireza for handling a loss like this as he did. This mindset Alireza has is absolutely what makes you better. Quick story, I play soft tip darts in the US at a fairly high level. I started playing locally over 10 years ago and after some years moved further and further from my local area trying to find competition. Eventually I found a place that has 1 world level dart player and several national level players and could work me over good. The point is iron sharpens iron. Thinking you are the best will cause you to peak along with being the big fish in the small pond, never be satisfied. You are only as good as the talent that surrounds you(for the most part). I am in no way comparing myself here just comparing the thought process as when he said it even makes him happy to lose to someone like Magnus. I feel the exact same way when I shoot out of my mind and still lose. It reminds me to get better.
