It was always there ever since the first Mahito fight and it was thanks to being Sukuna's vessel, Now I wonder, how would Shinjuku Showdown Yuji do against Mahito? I know he's gotten ridiculously good now ever since he now has Blood Manipulation, Shrine, and Simple Domain (Though if I remember correctly, Mahito's DE is useless against Yuji) plus I'm pretty sure he improved his soul strikes since Yuki's soul research definitely helped him refine his power even more

Or a bad job, like Danzo in Naruto lol. Danzo was definitely an unintentionally dislikable character. You're supposed to disapprove on some level with his actions, but the anime portrayed him to be too much of a hypocrite. Villains like Sukuna, Mahito, Griffith, or Light are well written but it just happens that they have undesirable traits. Some goon from an anime that you just want to see disappear isn't a particularly good villain.

I left this on another video but the thing that i love about mahito is that he can metaphorically be a real person. If someone grows up only knowing the cruel side of humanity they could end up like mahito and enjoy the suffering of others. His character is also ironic because he was born from hatred and as long as people continue to hate mahito (humanity) the human curse will always be reborn. In my opinion even though mahito is a character who is cruel and wants you to hate him. you can beat him at his own game by doing the exact opposite of what he wants and accept/ love him. this is why the line “im you” is so important because Yuji accepts the worst parts of himself (aka mahito) and still continues to move forward. By not letting his soul waver by his own bad decisions and resolving to continue moving forward to be good/ repent. Yuji defeats mahito by letting go of his hatred/ drive for revenge and ‘kills’ mahito like a fly on the wall. Without a second thought or reason, just because he wanted to. Mahito is a character you’re supposed to hate, but have to love. and this is why he’s a top 5 character for me.

Mahito is probably the most effective villain in new gen anime. He's a monster, the most vial thoughts of humanity given a shape. He is a complete freak, a curse that has no regard for human life and treats everyone and everything like a toy. Using people and breaking them simply because he can. And yet, I find him endlessly entertaining. You know when he's on screen shit is gonna go down and you just get this feeling of dread and (at least for me) excitement. What can this scumbag do next? He is also a perfect antagonist for Yuji. Forcing him to change and grow through his actions. That's why when Yuji finally gets to make Mahito suffer it is incredibly cathartic. He's not my favorite new gen antagonist, but he's right up there.

I love how gege portray the disaster curse and mahito. Typically we see the villain planning stuff and done but i like the moments where hanami,jogo,mahito,dagon,geto just chilling. Its giving more story and attachments to the characters even though they're villains that shows up not as often as the main casts. I shed a tear when jogo saw hanami died because i really feel the connection between the disaster curse. Also props to gege on making mahito, the batshit craziness that mahito portrays is otherworldly and mahito really deserves to be called a villain
