Great breakdown. Love the explanation of the strengths and weaknesses of each style. Monk sees the floor so well and is so skilled thst even with a lack of strength I think he still has the skill to be an elite (or close) scorer on and off ball. A more decisive handle would go a long way tho

Hit it out the park like you “Ohtani”. You can’t ever go wrong on the highly underrated MMonk even though he’s starting to get his due. I remember someone who follows the warriors that knows their stuff scoffed at me like I was crazy when I said that’s who the warriors should get when he was about to be a FA leaving Charlotte. I might have to pull that up to remind them lol. As always, great detail, the unibased breakdowns are next level. This piece and all your stuff would be great for people who may just be casuals though great for anyone. Not only your explanations but the different players you showed in the p&r (that oop from Trae to JC 👀) along with it just being so “even” so to speak as far as showing the positive as well as the negative so people can get way more of an understanding than just watching positive outcomes. These types of pieces should be on nba tv. Loved how you even included screen action giving credit to Loon he doesn’t usually get and you know I loved you showing how my boy Mpj can get left out in the cold as well as more blame than he should (see the nuggets shots taken in the second half by each player of that elimination game). Not knocking my boy JMurray but he has some of the same abilities including athletically to mix it up more in getting more efficient outcomes but he relies and settles too much on that J to drop even when he’s not going hot. MMonk is and has always been more than shooter/scorer that can fill up including dropping dimes that a lot of players are reluctant or not capable making especially with him doing it next level in split seconds. Pieces like this will help many recognize

This is a very well made video, much more interesting and insightful than what I see from most other basketball analysis channels. Just a couple pieces of criticism: you should mix your voice a bit higher in the audio, it was hard to hear you at times in the video. Also, I would recommend working on the graphics a bit when you're displaying stats or other text on the screen. Maybe pick a font/color combo and use that consistently. Overall though, great video!

@@91Kicks thanks heaps for the tips, I will definitely follow up on these I’ll have to have a look into fonts and colours for graphics Would you say it would be ideal for the graphics and quotes to be fitting the screen rather than what they were in here, only covering portions of the screen,

Once he starts for the Kings, they will push for a title … hopefully it’s before Fox leaves, but probably not
@LivinProoof3 ай бұрын
Believe it or not, Keon Ellis is going to be a better starter simply because he provides more of what the Kings starting 5 desperately needs which is insane defense. A starting 5 of Fox, Monk, DeRozan, Keegan, and Sabonis, while lethal on offense, can really be exploited on defense. With keon ellis in the starting 5 they were a top 5 defense last season. (All games after the ASB). Not only that, they can stagger Fox and Monk so there's always elite offense at all times.

@@LivinProoofYeah as much as I’d love to see Monk & Fox starting together these rosters are too deep to just put the “best 5” out there and fit is going to be even more important with all the talent multiplying. While Keon is up & coming MMonk can supply that instant firepower coming off the bench that teams need while Keon is a better fit in the starting lineup as you said that will also keep elevating his confidence instead of coming off the bench feeling like he has to “prove” himself. You get more from Monk coming off the bench than Keon coming off the bench not to say he can’t be productive coming off the bench. With all this talent on all these teams it’s going to be more about no matter how good a player is if they can show they can come off the bench ballin’ then no need to start them. All these guards including Huerter, Duarte would be starters in the past nba so “get in where you fit in” is going to be even more important. It’s great Brown wants to play with pace because that’s the only way all these guys with talent will get opportunities that they’re comfortable with and like you also said staggering MMonk & DFox. Love to see them on the floor together but that won’t always be the answer

Shouldn't the pick and roll be viewed as an inefficient play if 0.91 points per possession for an individual pick and roll ball handler is considered "very good"? Thats the equivalent of shooting threes every possession at a clip of 30%..... are you sure you have that stat correct? If so, that's nuts. The overall nba average right now for total points per possession is like 1.15 or so. 0.91 very good??? How?????
@jamesbu11873 ай бұрын
Fair question; honestly I have no idea, I just went off what Synergy's rating was. I agree its low, though in general Synergy just isn't an accurate statistical representation of playtypes anyway due to the issues I outlined in the video Malik's middy numbers I cited aren't great either because they're the whole season's (they're fine-good, just not great); if I made a filter for only Feb-onwards Malik's middy numbers would probably be elite; Ultimately I have to work with what I've got, but I'm definitely frustrated that I only have the publicly available stats. The Synergy/playtype stats in particular are some of the most problematic I find, outside of pure Impact Metrics (which I'm not a big fan of) I am pretty confident NBA teams would have access to stats that show what the film backs up about Malik's pick and roll game a bit better. Stuff like % of PnRs that result in a shot in the paint would probably paint Malik's PnR game in a better light than the 0.91 stat, I think I've seen Malik's playmaking out of drives stat ranking extremely high x.com/danfavale/status/1764674008153231838 But ultimately that's not a pick and roll stat so I chose not to include it Appreciate your criticality and engagement tho FR, hope that answer gave something and wasn't pure waffle
