I'm pretty perturbed by your attitude towards the showing of sportsmanship. To me, using cheap tactics like scaring the shit out of a 20 year old means you don't trust your footballing ability to speak for itself. The last thing football needs is more divisiveness. It's unpleasant, to say the least. I have a lot of respect for Jackson for that small move.

Didn’t see Jackson “comfort” the kid, but if he did (and who knows what he said?), my opinion of Jackson just climbed up several rungs. I’m a City fan. And if the Chelsea fans truly thought this was improper, well, that helps explain why I have a low opinion of Chelsea fans. But who knows? He may have told the kid “Hey I’m coming to eat your lunch all day!” If so, it’s good that the kid can’t speak English. You’re right. The kid did great to recover from that early blunder. Looking forward to watching his development. I think his natural talents will be fully exploited by Pep and his staff given enough time.
@maja_spy7 күн бұрын
He just gave him a pat, so he definitely understood. A nice gesture from him, he showed empathy! I also felt sorry for the kid. But I get other Chelsea fans that think he should have just taken adventage of this "weakness" and be nice after the match. If we won I think everyone would praise him, but with this score... Well... :/

You can be kind and still destroy the defenders. You are making it sound like that act equals to playing bad somehow. This mentality is weird.

For chelsea fans, that's a gateway to blame. "Cold palmer" couldn't finish the shot and the terrible pass too but jackson is easier to blame for these plastic guys. I respect jackson

I think Jackson could certainly have given Khusanov a bit of support professionally and then completely run round him, too. Two things can be true.
@HGilly119 күн бұрын
If you mean "going for the jugular" as getting his runs in behind him, a little extra pressure when he in particular is on the ball, or taking him on more, I get what you mean and I agree. I am a City fan and I was worried that they would just start targeting Khusanov and his side on all of their attacks. However, see absolutely nothing wrong with being professionally respectful and empathetic. Jackson has had his fair share of mess ups in the league so far as well.
@issymf8 күн бұрын
really interesting to hear that thought about Jackson, and seeing others disagreeing. I'm with them. Jackson has had a tough time in the public eye for his own on-pitch performances, it's natural he would feel empathetic and I admire him for that. I also think Man City's win had, in a roundabout way, something to do with this first blunder. Bernardo Silva steps up to protect Khusanov, making himself available for every pass from him, and so controlling that side of the midfield more than he usually does. Gvardiol has been losing his head in high pressure moments, and it really felt like he had the chance to be a good example and give a mature performance.

I watch a lot of video analysis and am a huge fan of FF2 on KZbin, but you confused the f*ck out of me in that Chiles segment. "You invert the right back alongside the midfield 3 into a box" is meaningless to his audience. "An inverted right back is a full-back who moves into the centre of the field when their team has possession of the ball" probably clearer.
@johnferguson48698 күн бұрын
Difficult on radio, but it suits Adrian Chiles’s producers to have a ‘nerd’ on who Chiles can’t understand. All about the Chiles persona, which isn’t a bad thing for Chiles, everyone needs a ‘schtick’ but maybe not best for the audience.

... that comment about Jackson being "woke" is so out of line. 1. Yes, that's a top 6 match.... So? Are we looking for a quality footbal match or a Hunger Games "match"? 2. Re Khusanov's blunder, just take a look at Akanji's action/reaction. He should have taken control. Failing that, at least he could have sprinted towards the goal to prevent Madueke from tapping into an empty net… instead, he just froze and watched the disaster unfold around him, as he has done on many occasions during his time at City!

It's telling that our 1 win in 7 coincides with Jackson last scoring. Goals are momentum swings and momentum is everything in Football. Goals change games end of, it's cliché for a reason. Forget tactics, or a mangerial masterclass, if we scored during critical moments during the game this is null and void. Newcastle's run is arguably down to Isak. His goals have been crucial to turning the tide or cementing games, likewise Haaland. I actually now regret not going for Omorodian or even Duran. I've been Jackson's biggest advocate for the longest time but sadly this Chelsea squad isn't conducive for burgeoning talents and we just don't have the time or environment now. Under Poch, arguably everyone improved. For all of Poch's faults and failings for "too much running", our teams were extremely fit and sustained the fight throughout the 90mins. We were scoring late goals and running teams ragged. Now we barely have a good second half in games. One thing that we could've hung our hats on with Poch is he's a squad builder, a talent nurturer. A somewhat father-figure to the players. He turned good talents into world class, took a mediocre Spurs and turned them into title challengers. Most of all he knew how to remain competitive in a 5-year period. Sure, his methods were somewhat outdated but I'd gladly take Poch's chaotic and high-energy football than this tactical ineptitude. Name a player under Maresca who's done even marginally better than in Poch's last few months. Poch was a known quantity, with Maresca can we even turn it around? Is his stern tactics a hinderance for a players low on confidence? We don't know.

Fact is chealse had tosin, he's 6'5 and could've probably matched the physicality of halland. Idk maybe im missing something here but I would have made it tosin and chalobah as our centre halves not only would that have brought a bit more height and defensive cover but tosin can also do cowill's role of making the line breaking passes. It was quite obvious that city were looming create those 1v1s and leaving Cowill to go up against halland is mad. Arsenal put Saliba and Gabriel just to quiet halland, 2 big 6'4/6'5 defenders and we put on Cowill.

Jackson comforting an opponent mid-game is odd. Great sportsmanship after the match? Absolutely! He should not become Diego Costa 2.0 during games though-I am not a fan of elbows being thrown around for fun or see opponents potentially hurt by dirty tackles. But there is a balance: exploit struggling opponents without either hugging or hacking them. But more importantly to me, I don't understand how Madueke does not get more criticism. He gets handed a simple tap-in and then disappears for 85+ minutes. No wonder Reece James gets overrun-Noni completely switches off every time Gvardiol surges forward. It’s no coincidence that Gvardiol had so many open chances; he’s primarily Noni’s responsibility, not Reece’s, right? And what does Madueke actually contribute in attack? Slowing the game down, then cutting inside or making a back pass-rinse and repeat. That approach worked in the first game of the season against Wolves, but since then? Defenders have figured him out. Maybe I’m missing something, but to me, he just keeps getting away with it! Then again, when you have players like Sanchez and Jackson consistently malfunctioning in key moments every other game, it’s easy for someone like Noni to slip under the radar for doing next to nothing.
