The jump to the bench at bretta is actually possible, but it is sub pixel precise. If you right slash the floating platform, then jump up and hug the left wall, it will align your sub pixel correctly and you can make a last frame coyote jump under the floating platform to the bench.

It sounds complicated but in practice it’s pretty easy to do and 100% consistent

@@jinxsterr_Dispenser3741 well, it sounds like it's sub-pixel + frame-perfect, but like. frame-perfect tricks can be done with enough practice and a good reaction time, and OP provided a method to get the right sub-pixel, so like. i may not be a speedrunner myself, but it doesn't sound impossible - more like it's not worth the effort for more casual players. like. i'm aware frame-perfect skips are a pain in the ass to perform, but that hasn't stopped speedrunners before. heck, sometimes not even skips that require multiple frame-perfect inputs in a row are off the table.

Personally the way I consider something being an "area" is if it has a big fancy title card when you first enter, like the one at 1:00 Doing it that way adds The HIve, The Abyss, White Palace, Godhome, Infected Crossroads, and Colosseum of Fools as areas. Considering they all have distinct atmospheres and gameplay from the base area they are found in, I personally like that way, although none of it really matters because the term of an "area" is so vague anyway (and it has no impact on the content of the video regardless). It's just interesting to see how people classify what is or isn't an area. Good video though :)

@@paroan1229 Yes, but soul sanctum and mantis village neither have those title cards, so that's where I make the distinction (although I can definitely get why you'd consider places like the colosseum a sub area of kingdom's edge, that's fine too)

Godhome was immediately ruled out due to being the last area someone will ever go, and the colo, (never seen it) I think is pointless to go because it’s literally a coliseum, and not really an area. Did you know, it is extremely easy to lure the vengefly in the goam room with the mask shard. Say hello by jumping into the spikes and wait for him to appear. The goams will give him right of passage, unless you go to greet him again too early

on my first run of the game, i couldn’t get past the first room of greenpath because i didn’t look down, i instead grinded geo on the guard until i could get lantern and went to crystal peaks, went through the room with the crystal hunters, went into the resting grounds, and got dream nail before dash

I too got the dream nail before the dash on my first run, but that's because I was wary of fighting the big bosses (the False Knight to begin with... got the nail before even passing him!).

This is insane!!! I knew about the Waterways - Wastes part, but HOW did you lure that mantis to that spike section!? I was never able to do that! I love your content! Also, if we enter the Wastes from the Waterways, there is no actual need for killing that Baldur since we can access the Queen's Station through the right side, right?

Even by their standards of what an area is White palace and godhome would count anyways as those sections have their own maps it’s just that those maps don’t exist, what I mean is that if you open your map in these areas it just says you don’t have a map for this area so they are in fact areas. Just something fun that I thought of while watching, with no effect on literally anything.

A couple of things: 1) you don't actually need lantern. The shaky floor right past best bug (Myla) is part of crystal peaks, and you go through resting grounds as part of the shade skip to city. 2) Did you forget about moss prophet? Sure getting past him is a one way entrance, but Moss Prophet is part of queens gardens. I don't know if it's possible to get through the area to reach him, but my gut says yes?

@@desmondcoppin591 objectively terrible L it's the EXACT same color scheme as greenpath*, making it quite literally one of only 2 areas that look nearly identical to each other. You gain NOTHING in queen's gardens that is important, and no, optional shade upgrades are not important unless you want 112%. The area is quite literally THE most boring, uninteresting, and useless place in all of hollow knight apart from the resting grounds.

@@vulblhotdiessfi QG has a much more dark lush green pallette than greenpath, and it's filled with ornate structures that make it have a much more controlled feel to it compared to wild greenpath, but is still overgrown enough to show that nature's the one in control here. Also the music for it is the best area music in the game imo, it really makes the area.

It's me again! I PERSONALLY wouldn't count Dirtmouth as an area, as it, like The Hive, has a map that comes with another, despite it being an entirely different area. An all or none situation, right?

You can access QG via Deepnest just fine, I've done it, without double jump, but it's tricky.

I've defnitely done it since I did a similar thing as this video in that I went through the game as much as I could before picking up more abilities, and I wanted to get into QG without double jump and isma's tear (I couldn't do the acid skip so I decided to go via Deepnest and it worked after some tries). It's definitely janky, but I think others can confirm as well that it's possible, especially if you do have double jump. You're pprobably not going high enough or staying too much to the left, it is quite disorienting.

Great video! You should do a part two for hive, collesium, abyss, infected crossroads, godhome and white palace (although some are blatantly impossible)

By definition, infected crossroads is impossible. It requires dreamnail or wings. Godhome needs dreamnail. Same with white-palace. These aren’t any sort of jump that you might be able to bypass. These are things that require you to teleport to get to them. Maybe, you might be able to if you use major glitches like the menu bug or something that lets you walk through walls to find where they are in the data files, but to me that feels outside of the spirit of this challenge. Hive and Colosseum sound hellish but plausible to me. I think the main Abyss would at least require dream nail, wings, or claw to escape the soft lock when you get king’s brand. There’s another option. Just to the right of the nail master in Kingdom’s Edge there’s a hole that leads to a giant georock deep in the ground. I think that rock is in Abyss, and you can escape, but I think you’d still need dive to get in.
