How many carrots are TOO many? How do I thin carrot crops?

SO here's the question. What tips do you have for growing better carrots?

@@ghosious Thanks. I've started pulling about at the spacing you're suggesting. It's really helped. Sometimes though, I will have massive tops, but very small actual carrots. I don't know if I need to change my fertilizer or something. I'll get about 50% good big carrots and the rest have massive tops, but relatively small roots.
